i never had this problem up until now

You are running an old version of HFS (2.1 build 7).  The current version is 2.1a build 61.  Update to the latest version and see if that solves the problem.  You can get it here -> www.rejetto.com/hfs/?f=dl   -or-   use the update feature in the HFS gui.
