Title: Really Need Help! Not Connectiong Right
Post by: Scott on November 12, 2006, 12:03:46 PM
Hey,

Me and my m8 want to transfer large files over the internet to each other, but we have tryed many things such as mIRC, Alliance, HTTP etc but it seems that we cannot connect to each other, or my connection in some way isnt working.

Right now I have HFS installed, I have made the Download and Upload folder in C:\ and then when I go to http://localhost it shows the 2 folders.

But im not sure if its working fine, so if someone could, can they please go to what should be my external ip aka my virtual folder:

http://86.13.142.91/

And try it and tell me if you could download the images in there??

If you cannot connect you see the problems me and my m8 face.

What could it be.

I done Self Test and it seems to be working successful.

Thanks.

Everything works fine.

If you want to check the connectivity of your site without external help you can do it easily by yourself:
Use the Google translation proxy service, which translates  ::) complete websites.
By asking to translate from English to English (=no translation at all), Google will request the page for you and send it to your browser
So you open your browser with the following command line
http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2F_YOUR_IP-Nr_HERE_&langpair=en%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF8
eg. or for a URL like Rejetto's:
http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.rejetto.com&langpair=en%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF8

Remember: No ports allowed, so use port 80 (http default) for testing. This is not an anonymizer, but it's fast and useful for many purposes  ;)  !

Thanks, now say my m8 was to send me something, is there a way I could give him uploader rights? So he can log on, upload files and they will send to my PC?

See when your uploading to it, a couple of questions:

1. He was uploading but I didnt see anything at the bottom of my HFS window, is that ok and common?
2. Are all filetypes alloud? or are some not?

1. no, but if the upload took short time, you may just have missed it. if you are doubtful, you can right click -> "leave disconnected connections".

2. don't know of any problem with any filetype
