Title: Downloading a whole folder?
Post by: cabe on September 18, 2006, 10:59:46 PM
Is there any way that I can allow a user to download a whole folder? Say for example if I have a folder full of desktop wallpapers.  I'd like the user to be able to download the whole folder rather than each wallpaper individually.  Is there any way I can set that up?

[edit]
Maybe HFS could compress the directory on the fly as a zip or something?  If this was possible then it would also be cool to specify which directories could be downloaded and which couldn't.  That way someone wouln't be able to select to download the entire root directory!

Downloading a folder is a really basic functionality of a file server, and even though HTTP is imposing some technical limitations on us I know you guys have come up with a few workarounds for this problem.  What solutions have you guys come up with?

Ah it looks like this feature has already been suggested!  Just out of curiosity, when do you think it will be integrated into the program?  I don't mean to be badgering the author (since this is free and open source), but I'm just wondering when to expect it.
