Title: Comment Files
Post by: CeltiX on September 17, 2006, 01:47:42 AM
Maybe I'm dense and missing something...

I want to start playing with .comment and descript.ion files for folders.

Where should teh file be located?
What syntax do I use in teh file?

Any advice would help!

I don't think it works for folders, only for files, but i can be wrong.
You can use plain text or HTML in the comment files.

BTW i saw your implementation of HFS with the modded CLEAN template. Looks nice! The wallpaper preview is great! Did you apply a difftpl or a special html page?

Thanks!

I actually used a program called Express Thumbnail Creator for the wallpaper page. It's not free, but it works really well to create thumbnail galleries. I'm playing around with different colour schemes fro the web lately.

I got the comments working (even for folders), but they don't seem to be enabled in the Clean HFS template. I'll have to do more tweaking

I have worked also with the Clean tpl for some time.
In this tpl, file comments are not displayed on the page, but as ALT flags and displayed only when the cursor is above the filename.
Thx for the info on the gallery, i've a copy of your html, so i will use it for modding.

At the moment, the %folder% tag will be recognized in a comment and shown accordingly. Are there any plans to support the %filename% tag as well?

from next beta you can use all item related symbols also in comments.
stay tuned.

notice: it is not %filename% but %item-name%
