im currently useing 2.0a the Stable verion but i still get the same prob like the older version
after running HFS for 30 mins or after some ppl/friends download files from me hfs starts useing 90 to 100% CPU Useage how can i fix this prob?
-
when it happens, try to disable your firewall and see if the problem disappears
-
well i have o firewall
i have a Program called "PeerGuardian 2" but that couldnt be the prab
this only happins when some friends download a few files
-
Your problem is peerguardian. That's a real cpu hog. If you like that type of program protowall is much better. Anyway, for now, run HFS without peerguardian running in the background and let us know if the problem goes away.
-
...i said "try", so that you can exactly know if it is or it is not
-
same problem here, 90, 100% within or without firewall (windows firewall) after 20, 30 mins of inactivity, or when somebody connect to my hfs :'(
-
1. how can you know it is HFS and not another software?
are you watching with task manager or similar?
2. are you still able to use HFS when CPU is 100%, or is it hanged up?
-
the process hfs.exe freezes, unusable with 90~100% cpu load.. on XP taskmanager
::)

for this reason im back to 2.1 beta 14, this works excellent for me..
in the 2.1 build 17 i have the same problem too.
-
can you tell me if beta15 works well or has the same problem?
-
hi rejetto, im john from the previous post.. err.. in the beta 15 after 60 mins of testing i dont have problems with nothing.. if you want, i can test the beta16 too.
just a supposition, but.. i think the problem started when i saved "options to registry" in beta18.. im not sure about this
-
yes, test beta 16.
if it depends on the version, i can look for changes.
-
no problems with 2.1 beta 16 ;D
-
can you re-test and confirm that beta17 gives you the problem?
-
good news Rejetto :)
i found the problem, and its just a internal conflict with a program installed in my computer.. the program name's Netlimiter.
i can't run both of them..
thanks and sorry ::)
-
so... does or does not depend on HFS version?
-
yes, only in betas 17 and 18.. 16,15,14, etc.. no problem with netlimiter
also i found another little problem with nview (nvidia video cards software) its made the same issues, cpu useage 100% and server down..
(sorry for my really bad english)
-
sadly i can't investigate further, because for 2.1 betas i didn't keep sources for every release.
my fault.
anyway, also if HFS process uses the CPU, doesn't mean it is hfs.exe itself.
other software, like netlimiter, run inside other processes, with dll.
this is also a base method for fooling firewalls ;)
since it happens also with another software, i would tell it is netlimiter itself.
netlimiter is a very nice software. i would use it if it was free.
but sadly, working at a such low level can easily generate incompatibility.

sorry for the long delay school works got me busy
but anywho PG2 wasnt hoggin my CPU Pg2 will only use 5 end less and when i Ctrl + Alt + delete and go the the processe tab the HFS.exe uses 99 to 100
if its the version im useing plz give me a update (^^)

wait u saying its my nView well since i do always have t enabled how do i disable it i never tired?
that sums things up i run hfs with PG2 off since it blocks many ranges it had to be nview
