well let me try to help too

-are you behind a router? if it is so, well, are the ports opened?

-are you using some kind of firewall? did you create a rule to hfs on it?

-if the self test fails, in most of times it means it can“t find a opened route or port to "serve" something on it...

try to access yourself in your browser, if it works, well it is a middle of the walk....
then try to access yourself from some other pc on your intelnal network if it exist...
try to access yourself using other adresses, try:

http://YOUR-INTERNAL-IP/ or http://YOUR-INTERNAL-IP:PORTUSEDBYHFS
or something like
http://localhost/ or http://localhost:PORTUSEDBYHFS
or your external ip adress
go to
http://showip.net/ to find what is your ip gived by your isp
and copy&past your external ip into your browser address bar like this
http://YOUR-EXTERNAL-IP/ or http://YOUR-EXTERNAL-IP:PORTUSEDBYHFS
try to send your external ip to a friend or yourself in the work, install some network controller like vnc and try, adjust, try again....
it is easy, when you get some logic/pratic on it...
