Is there any way to set the server up to email me when someone completes an upload?
-
no, HFS can't do that
but you may get such behaviour using external software

Can someone suggest a 3rd party program that can send an email notification after an upload to a directory.

I use
Monidir2K --> http://www.contactplus.com/products/freestuff/monidir.htm (http://www.contactplus.com/products/freestuff/monidir.htm)
to monitoring adding/deleting file in a folder.
From contactplus site:
This FREE useful utility can help you to stay abreast of changes (file additions, deletions and changes) that occur in folders on your computer, letting you specify up to 20 directories to monitor, including your network drives. Great for System Administrators! Your files are monitored in real time.
This File Monitoring software is totally free. There are not time restrictions, function restrictions or nags.
As any changes occur to the contents of these folders, a popup screen will notify you of the change. The popup screen can also play an audible alarm, such as a WAV file. Email notification is also available to keep you informed of changes on network drives. You can select the time interval, in seconds, for MoniDIR 2000 to use to check the directories. The monitoring program resides in your system tray and becomes active only when the timer starts the program. When active, the file monitoring program will display the files that have been added, deleted, or changed.
I don't know if will be usefull for this specific HFS's job but should be interesting test it.

That is a great program and is what I was looking for, the only problem is I need something that will send to a different email address for each folder. It is for a company environment where I have 15 folders and each one is used by a different person so I need the program to email each person when a file goes to their folder. I found a program that would do it after my first post but it cost $99.
It is at watchdirectory.net . I will buy it if I can't find anything cheaper.
The other useful feature that I need that it has is the ability to delete files from certain directories that are a certain # of days old. That will keep the directories from getting too crowded especially since HFS doesn't delete files through the Internet interface. These are 2 very useful features and may be worth the $99 to our company.
Please let me know if anybody has a cheaper solution to either of these 2 functions before I buy the program.
Thanks
