My main photo directory has many sub-directories. Also, potentially, each registered HFS user of mine could have their own real photo folder. I was hopeing that HFS could recursivly scan all these folders and I could then create public virtual folders with different categories, i.e. "Birthdays" and would not have to physically move files or delete folders (meaning all the photos would have to be in one folder.) Is this possible? This is the main reason I started researching HFS. Thank you all!

sure it is possible.
you can add your photo folder as virtual folder, then make all the change you want without changing what's on your hard disk.
i can't say if this is the best solution, because i don't exactly know your case, but sure you can do it.

Virtual folder will NOT autoupdate, then. Everytime something changes, you have to do it by yourself. This is not practicable if users update often...

Is there a way to autoupdate? Maybe with an external program? Perhaps that feature could be added in the next release?

before asking, are you sure you can't do the job done using real folders?
