Title: Speed is very slow in LAN
Post by: Khanhzler on January 10, 2006, 01:18:26 AM
Hi all,
first, HFS is a great soft. But there is a little problem that I can't figure out.

I'm testing HFS on a LAN between a notebook and a desktop (crosscable).
On both systems I run HFS. the upload speed on the laptop is about 3-4 MB/sec. But the upload speed on the desktop is only ca. 500KB/s, and the CPU usage is 100%!!!

When using the windows network sharing I get on both system transferrate about 5 MB/s.

So what's wrong with HFS? Anybody has a clue?

Thanx for your help.

My Systems:

Notebook Centrino 1.7Ghz, 512 MB Ram, 100Mbit LAN, no firewall
Desktop Athlon 2600+, 512 MB Ram, 100Mbit LAN, no firewall
HFS 1.6a

i would have said it is the firewall, but i see you are using not.
anyway MS sharing is a quite special protocol, if you can make a test using another software (http or ftp) it may be interesting.
anyway, have a look at 2.0 beta... who knows...
