Well all seems u have the same problen had some time ago. The reason you can see your page and your friends not, is that you only give your local ip, for your friends can see your page you need to give them your public ip and the port. you should use a page like http://www.andy21.com/ip/ and check your public ip. (the ip show in this page will be completely diferent from your ip that you use to see your page localy) then give that ip to your friends an they will see your page,  (the adress you should give them mus be like this http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:xx)

just sign up for the free http://www.dyndns.org service. If will give you a free domain name for  your (dynamic) ip....

the port is 80
try using another port
sometimes ISPs forbid that port

Hmz it is my first time here but what i have read sofar about your connection problems............. hmz.
Nobody asked you if you have a router, if so you have to forward a public port. Do not forget to give the whole ip including that port to your friends. something like http://123.456.78.9:18456

Maybe you have a modem with an inbuild router, then you have to do the same into your modem.
I do not know if i may tell you a website where you can see how to forward a port at what modem or router............... if i know that i will tell.

Good luck, because running HFS is wonderfull, espacialy with the new template ;)

It sounds as though you need to forward the port that HFS is running on. (http://www.portforward.com/english/applications/port_forwarding/Http_File_Server-HFS/Http_File_Server-HFSindex.htm)

Sounds like you need need to open a port. (yes, even 80 has to be opened per se).
If your running IIS port 80 probably won't work, otherwise you should be good to go.
www.canyouseeme.org should confirm if the outside world can hit that ip, or just you.

Note: The original post was from over 2 years ago, the person that posted recently likely has a port problem as well.
