Title: Sub-Shell Menu
Post by: imon9 on January 13, 2005, 04:22:15 PM
Rejetto, u're the best man. I so glad i came over ur software.i been using WWW File Share Pro (http://www.wfshome.com/) and i pay so much for nothing.

First of all, request. Adding Sub-menu to ur "HFS" menu:
because it seems silly when u pop-up a choice for "real folder" and "virtual folder" ...why not just put it as a sub-menu for choice.

i mean it is good inform about the difference btw "real/virtual" but after 1 or 2 use, everyone gets the idea, rite?

btw, i also would suggest, not only "add" but also to "remove share" (i know this is harder than it sound, but i will be i big lead)

Your software came with load of option i need...but then it struck me that while having the fun of customizing it, it will cripple most of my frens who are computer-disabled. So, if u allow me, i will draw a GUI suggestion for u, and see if u can inplement it.  :P

best regrads.

are you talking about an option to always choose real/virtual folders?

that is not to inform
that is to choise!
i use both types and decide for each case

remove? are you talking about the "remove" feature that is already there? (you can also use the DEL key)

Title: explanation :)
Post by: imon9 on January 14, 2005, 12:33:42 PM
look at this picture:

so, when a person right click in windows explorer, one will get in Shell menu:
"HFS" with sub-menu (so no pop-up dialog)

this will be much more user-friendly. i hope u agree ;)
and i hope other users think the same :)

about the GUI drawing, it will be coming soon, whithin 3 days (i hope)

yes, i get someone may find it more handy
there's a problem: it should be an option to get it that way, because newcomers should get an explanation

there are 4 ways to add files/folders in HFS.
all ways get to the dialog (for folders).
the dialog works in all ways.
what you are asking is for the context menu only.
Title: too bad the dialog has got a bug
Post by: imon9 on January 14, 2005, 03:46:23 PM
funny that the pop-up dialog did not stay on-top
well, just that i found it is rather annoying when i can't find the dialog on the taskbar and need to minimise every other program just to find it.

for new users, they won't realise the dialog is there until they close all other window.

the dialog stays on top of HFS
it does not stay on top of all programs
it should initially come on top
if you lose it, clicking on HFS should be enough

this is the expected behaviour
if this is not the case, please report how to reproduce the bug, because i just tested and was not able to get it
Title: Nope: clicking wont work~
Post by: imon9 on January 14, 2005, 07:06:50 PM
ok, my setting: (those thati think related)
Start/Exit: checked Start minimised
Try icon: checked minimise to tray, checked Show main try icon
Shell Context menu: selected "add for all"

so, i have my HFS nicely sitting in the trayicon bar(minimised):
right click on any folder, then choose "HFS" then nothing pop-ups!!
one click on "HFS" tray icon- still nothing appear
double click on "HFS" to restore main interface, waloa! i found the pop-up
BUT i find it no point then, coz i have to go allllllll the way to HFS main interface to just to SEE the pop-up dialog.

why not just add it to shell context like i suggested? plz...
(the main point here is, the ease of usage)

this was not easy to solve, for how Delphi manages windows
in the end, i decided to just keep on foreground the dialog until you reply, no matter if you try to get another window in foreground.
this is not polite, but the dialog is not big and i thought most people shouldn't want to have it open for a long time.

(wait for beta20)
Title: thanks for looking into it :)

well, i hope it can pop-up and stay most up-front :D
will see if u would fix it

i don't understand why you don't get it in front.
once/second i call the setForegroundWindow, that's a Windows API function to just do what it tells.
it works for me. what Windows are you using?
Title: using Windows XP professional

Title: NEW IDEA: USE "MSN NOTIFICATION" STYLE POP-UP DIAL
Post by: imon9 on June 20, 2005, 07:28:45 PM
ever consider using a "msn notification" style pop-up dialog to REPLACE the dialog for choosing "REAL FOLDER" and "VIRTUAL FOLDER"?

it could stay on top of all application, plus, if it is at the corner of the page, it would be less disturbing/annoying...

if u used "azureus" before, (azurues is an open-source bit-torrent P2P client) u can see how the thing is done. Plus, the source code is available, just incase u need to port them into HFS.

well, that is just a suggestion... hope u will consider it.

plus, i've been waiting for the dialog bring ON TOP (most top) to be fix :/ it is not done in beta23, i'm waiting for ur beta24... just wonder if u would release it in anytime soon?

thanks for al the hard work :)

(i promised u a GUI, but i never done it... kindda bad of me, but i will work on it, i promise, coz i like HFS)

I don't know what's up with rejetto.  He hasn't posted or answered questions in over a month now, which is very unusual, and there hasn't been anything new happening with HFS at all.  His moderator hasn't been around either for a long time (2 months).  Strange, very strange.

I hope the project isn't dead.  It would be nice if they could let us beta testers know whats happening.
Title: maybe i could try take on this project :p
Post by: imon9 on June 21, 2005, 07:40:53 AM
the thing is, i am kind of thinking to pick up this project where he left off...or maybe just freshly rewrite

i need so feature not found here...wanna make it available:

full unicode
PHP support
media preview engine
quick IE intergration
better GUI

but it will be about 2 month to pick up everything from stratch :? wonder if it is the right thing to do...
