Title: Icon Wig Out 2.0alpha6
Post by: Iron Spring on May 16, 2004, 03:45:06 AM
I have been running the alpha6 and have had only one problem
and it may be my own. I can't seem to get the icons to show
as default even after selecting them to do so...  They switch back to
blank work icons for some reason for all exe, zip, doc files in the folders.
The folders are always correct but just the files seem to switch to
blank work icon??? No big deal... Users don't see that anyway..
Can someone give me a foot up on this??

Rejetto.. I just want to thank you and all who maybe working on the
program as it fit's my needs exactly. I know you guys hear nothing
but complaints and thought a THANK YOU may encourage you all
a little. Super program and I run it 24-7 off my private website.
Keep up the good work and thank you for it being free as money
is tight these dayz..

this bug was already notified in the  2.0 thread (http://www.rejetto.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1480&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=45).

sadly i was not able to reproduce it.
and if i don't reproduce it, it is very hard for me to fix it.
you should find the way to make the bug appear to me, because everything is working well here.

(me is the only one working on HFS)
Title: Icons setup Not being saved..
Post by: Iron Spring on May 20, 2004, 01:24:44 AM
Well, as far as I can tell, what happens is that when you
shut the system all the way down the icons you choose are
not being saved in the configurations file.. I have to reset them
up when I load the system again. They seem to hold to my
selections Rejetto, unless I shut the system all the way down or
have some kinda system crash due to power failure. As long
as the system keeps running without total shut down, then all
is good, the icons stay set.. I guess the best thing to do would
be to have the icons default rather then a blank work icon. This
problem seems to be only on the MASTER side, as user Icons
seem to be ok..

Post by: Iron Spring on May 29, 2004, 03:55:05 PM
Cool.. 2alpha10 icon fix did the trick.. No more icon blitz.. Thanks
Rejetto.. Will report anymore bugs I find.. Could you tell me if a DOC's
file will be available soon?? I would like to know more about the
programs functions. Hacking w/trial and error is fun but gets kinda
boring after a while.. lol..

Title: Hidden Or Undocumented Instructions
Post by: Iron Spring on May 30, 2004, 08:53:50 PM
Yep.. I was aware of thoes command options but I was thinking
in the relm of new or undocumented function commands or hotkeys,
etc.. I really like to know ALL the functions of a program when I run it
as it just makes things easier sometimes.. No bigger then this HTTP
server is this sucker rocks!! The newly upload function and TWEAKS
really kicks..  Wish the band meter was color editable. The colors of
the graph and text in the graph are hard on the eyes.. A color for
uploads and one for downloads whould be cool too.. Just my openion
and you know what they say about that.. Nice work on the new alpha
14 Rejetto.. I am running it on a ME machine and have had no lockups
on 200-600 meg uploads yet but did in alpha10 one time on a 400 meg
upload but I think it was as you stated a resourse lock up as I had 2
users online at the same time. It only happend once.. I will keep
watching the alpha14 on ME and see.. Best wishes..

to change bar colors, you just have to change the template
Quote
.out_bar { width:100px; font-size:15px; background:black; border:black 1px solid; margin-right:5px; }
.in_bar { height:16px; background:white; color:white;  }

i highlighted the parts you should change
about the problems in uploading: sorry but i don't have 98/ME to fix this problem, i hope someone will
Title: Band Width Meter
Post by: Iron Spring on May 31, 2004, 06:20:04 AM
Yep.. That works great on the progress meter for the uploads but I was
speaking about the BAND WIDTH METER at the top on the MASTER
side.. Black w/pink metering and some kinda text at the begining but
its black too and I cant seem to read it..

Oh well.. No big deal as I really use that for just a reference to see how the transfers are going over the web at times. I am running T1 and it seems to top out most of the time anyway. If someone else uploading or downloading is running T1 or T3 that is..

Black background with yellow for uploads and pink for downloads, white meter text would be a plus I think.. It would make things understood at a quick glance..

I like the long display of the band meter so you have a delayed account of how a transfer went even if you are not around at the moment to see..

The progress meter on uploads is a great idea when you have a multi-upload just to see how much more is to come. My users liked that a lot
in alpha14.. Thanks Rejetto.. Nice work..

Storming like hell here in Memphis tonight.. Lots of tornado's around
we have been lucky so far.. Wends at 55mph and tons of rain and hail.
Geeze batten down the hatches and hang on.. GRITZ!

ok, so you are just requesting a brighter text for the bandwidth meter. np
when it will measure upload speed, of course it will use another color.
is HFS stable despite the strong wind? :)
Title: Windy But HFS STANDING STRONG!!
Post by: Iron Spring on June 01, 2004, 04:55:26 AM
Windy.. But, HFS STANDING STRONG!! HFS alpha14 got a work out
today after the storm last night.. I had a dozen or so 600 meg downloads
and a few 300 meg uploads today and all went well. At one time I had
uploads and downloads going at the same time from 3 different users.
No crashes and all went clean and quick.. I however am running a memory manager now due to 2 other programs running in the background
off the main server as well.. If that wasn't a test today I don't know what
one would be. The homebrew clone @ 2.2ghz and 512 meg ram preformed
flawless and so did HFS.. I will let it run tuesday without the memory
manager and see how it holds.. If I was running XP on that machine it
would probably not be a problem because XP has it's own built-in
manager.. I just don't care for XP on servers as it is too slow booting and
the same at operations. 98se and (ME W/Upgrages) work much smoother.
XP just has too much crap in the OS to be a quick preformer. Nice OS but
I have a real need for speed.. I can always run a memory manager if the systems get hangy. Ram Defrag Xtreme does a great job and its free..

On the BAND METER.. U Got it Rejetto.. Just what it needs...

Storm Over....

It will be intersting... I had  my Win98SE to hang after a dew uploads... .
What mem manager do you use  ?  this Ram defrag ext ?  As far as I know - they do not do anything with resources... I had FFS drain resourses... (see graph above)
Title: Ram Defrag Xtreme
Post by: Iron Spring on June 01, 2004, 05:59:07 AM
Ram Defrag Xtreme.. Here is the url.. It's free, quick and kicks ass!!
It has 3 operation modes setup at install on 3 different icons to the
desktop. Instant, Tray and Menu.. Instant does a defrag of memory
on the fly.. Tray does it at a set base value or double click the tray icon.
Menu is a manual start and operations setup menu. Besure to limit SWAP
FILE operations for quicker results. Nice little utility for free.. Fastest
memory manager I have ever seen.. or used.. Never had a crash when
running it because it kills all the ram holes.. Biggest cause to system lock ups. Resources can be robbed from the machine just trying to keep
up with memory operations with no overhead due to grabage collections
by the processor.. Poof.. Crash and burn.. One problem if you don't
have enough ram in your machine to handle operations RAM DEFRAG XTREME is then FORCED to move some storage to SWAP FILE.. Some
RAM is GOOD but more is BETTER!! I run atleast 512 Megs on any
system. XP 64 needs a min of 1Gig to run or install the OS. XP 64 will
not install on 512 megs..

Title: Only If Needed..
Post by: Iron Spring on June 01, 2004, 09:30:49 PM
XP has its own memory manager. If your system is loaded
with operations, you are running 128 meg base memory and you
are having lots of lockups. You may want to give it a try as you can force a ram defrag at any time by clicking on the tray icon. This saves
rebooting time, (LAG) and it closes all the memory holes that XP sometimes forgets. Remember lockups can be caused by registery bugs too.. I suggest REG-VAC for that problem. If you install and uninstall lots of programs to try them out your registery gets cluttered and causes slow boots and lockups as well..  If you need a url to REG-VAC let me know and I will hook U up with it and the other goody.. I have used it on everything from 98se to XP and it does a great job of cleaning the registry and it does a backup file of the changes if you find something
is not working (hasen't happened yet) you can always restore the removed key. Just remember to set it not to remove the cleaning file back ups so you will always have them if needed. It has a preset function to delete the backup after so many days on its own after install.. Opppsss.. You can find it on your own by a simple Google search.. Or just go to www.regvac.com I think is the world wide but not sure off hand..

Cool.. I think you will like the little utility.. Let me know what you think
about it. Remeber if you don't have over base 128megs of ram it
tends to get a little laggy but its still the fastest ram defrag I have
ever used.. A big plus for closing memory holes..

I am looking for a good muti web cam viewer that can view several
cams at once, if someone knows of a good one please let me know..
Also looking for REAL GOOD BATCH file renamer and attribute
changer all in one program... Been looking on the net but ran into
nothing but lamer programs.. Smaller the better.. La8er!!

Hi!

I haven't tried regvac because I would have to pay for it. :)
To tell the truth i was lasy to install it. :)

I use TotalCommander. It has (6.03a especially) a GREAT
renamer (ctrl+t) function. Check that out.

PS: do u know an app which if u have a webcam show
the actual picture on a html site or using streams?
For example i go to windowsmediaplayer select open
location, type my ipadres and i see my room?
Sorry if i was not clear...

The only one that I have heard of is called: Webcast
Not sure where to get it, but it is not FREE...
Maybe  try a search for webcam utilities at:

http://www.webattack.com/freeware/freeware.html

This is a FREE utility page..

love to see what you have to take before showing up..

Title: alpha14 ran all weekend
Post by: Iron Spring on June 07, 2004, 05:06:40 AM
Well.. I removed the memory manager friday night on alpha14 and
it ran all weekend on 98se and ME systems.. I have it running now
on two daisy chained systems and alpha 14 didn't crash even with
both systems routed to the same server on different ports. Both
machines have 512megs of ram and running over 2 gighz.. No lock
ups with multi uploads and downloads going at the same time. I can't
find a resource problem but.. Not everyone is running half monster ram
and 2gig+ speeds.. T1 data was smooth and quick with a few slow
peeks but no hot dips and no lock lag.. Just normal net data hikes..
I will let alpha 14 run all week without the memory manager and see
what flies.. I have a data graphlogger running on one of the daisy
routers so if anything glitches it should report it in the graph email to
me for any down lags.. We shall see..

you are running servers, right ? I was running both server and client on the same machine. So, my guess is that the IE6 client caused the resource problem, since it was also WITH the progress view.
I have a slow PIII with "only" 380MB RAM.
Title: Ummm...
Post by: Iron Spring on June 07, 2004, 11:15:36 PM
Yep..  That could have been the problem.. Try running the RAM DEFRAG Xtreme with it set at 1/3 base and hold swap file use just for the heck of it.. Sounds like you somehow lost all your overhead ram and thus no room for grabage collection, see if it crahses then.. U may have just
had a fluke crash.. Time will tell if it happens again... I had it happen once but it was alpha13 (I think) and the system was LOADED..  Good luck..
