Hello everybody... I have Windows XP Pro with SP1 and when a friend tring to connect at my computer he takes the message:
------------------------------------------------------------
"The page cannot be displayed"
If I try it from my pc, there`s no problem! But any other can`t get access to my hfs.
I`ve read the forum and I cant find an answer for my problem!
My xp- firewall is deactivated!
I`ve zone alarm! I get access with and without zone alarm.
Though I deactivated zonealarm, my friends cant get access to me.
Can anybody help me??
Thank you very much

Make sure u both use the same port, and that you are not behind a router (internal IP).

Hi,
I haven`t got a router, I`ve got a dsl-modem!
What do you mean with "Make sure u both use the same port"!
Do you mean my Zone alarm??
I`ve got the problem too, when zone alarm is deactivated!
Thanks!

look at the top line in HFS. See the port# (and external IP) it is not always 80 (browser default). Not related to ZA.

how many IP addresses does HFS show?
HFS shows you the URL for your friend to access. are you giving him that URL or a different one?
-
Hi,
one ip is shown, for example http://192.168.120.211:3519/
I`ve tried it with port 8080-- http://192.168.120.254:8080/
the same problem!!
I give my fiend the number is shown by hfs!
thanks

This is NOT a legal IP! it is internal (probably in your modem IP subnet...)
You should try menu->IP and select the right one!
If you are not sure - check it here: http://www.whatismyip.com/

You are right. This was not not my real ip. It is 213.54.150.121
I`ve manual added this ip
Now shows hfs this: http://213.54.150.121:4727/ar-speedup.zip
Can anybody try now. By me doesn`t anything function (without zone alarm too)!
I don`t know????????????

1. you said HFS shows only 1 address
2. that address is a LAN address
then i think you are behind a router and not directly connected to the internet.
to get incoming connection behind a router you must configure the router. i don't have other solutions.

hi,
I havent got a router (i think so). i`ve got a dsl modem ( fritz dsl/isdn card)! And you have right, i only see one ip!
O.k. thanks

i did not say that you got, or paid, or received as a gift a router.
i said that you are behind a router.
it does not have to be in your same building.
you could be as well connected to a router through the adsl.
there is a network (fastweb) that work this way here in italy.
