Good afternoon.
Here I am trying to configure HFS to add a connected network drive home on my Windows 8.1 and can not get the show on the website of HFS when a customer enters .
I'm using the latest version :
HttpFileServer 2.3e
Server time: 21/06/2015 15:30:01
Server uptime : 00:19:55
But no way .
I tried drag the drive connected to a local network with their assigned letter .
I have also tried to drag folders within HFS and still do it.
I used the contextual menu where the option to add HFS appears .
The network drives locally connected my windows 8.1 have their password access to the NAS and display correctly from explorardor windows , allow you to write and read and operate properly.
I hope that can be done in a way to access the WAN by HFS from my NAS.
A big hello and thank you very much for this wonderful program , Jose , Malaga, Spain .

Normally this should not be a problem, posing questions to me is that it is necessary to use a username and password for the network drive. I would advise you to try to assign a drive letter to your network drive watching the method on the following link
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/create-shortcut-to-map-network-drive
not implicitly explained, but it is normally possible to define the name and password to reach the network drive using the user change
when the letter will be assigned you can add the resource in hfs
Thank you in return to tell us whether this solved your request

cmd net use can be easier: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb490717.aspx
example "net use v: \\192.168.1.2\share"
so the network drive is not allowed read/write privileges, for use in HFS?
Double check security to who has read/write access to the drive
is the network drive shared from a linux and/or windows the share?
I have found, that the everyone user is required for HFS to read/write ( a bit insecure to allow everyone, but with at least a test...
windows, it can be a simple permission change: http://superuser.com/questions/697352/access-denied-when-writing-files-to-network-drive
Linux, you have to fix/edit samba config to allow read/write...
As you have just said a nas, with out any other info on what you are using as a nas, it is hard to help you trouble shoot the device. (usually security setting have to be enabled on a nas via there web browsers, depending on hardware...)
