Title: testing 1.5c
Post by: rejetto on October 16, 2003, 06:32:04 PM
would you mind to give it a test?
http://www.uniroma1.com/rejetto/temp/hfs.exe

ver: 1.5c
- on some systems HFS refuses to open any port for listening
- the "no download" timeout was reset only at download start, and not downloading
- unstable using "speed limit", while user browsing
- files bigger 2Gb+ were not handled
- ban was not immediate

Seems OK so far (Win 98SE) .

BTW - How is the upload going ?
Any plans to implement also a feature that will enable including URL links to flies (or even page\directories) in the VFS ?

what about page/directories ?
v2 has not been updated lately, i'm very busy

What I meant was:
1. being able to add URLs pointing to files on any web location
2. being able to add URLs to web location/pages thenselves (that are  equivalent to directories on a local PC)

in 1 - the user will see it as a regular file-icon (may be with some special added icon) the operations will be as on any file
in 2 - the user will be able just to "goto"/open that page same as in a directory, but w/o the file list, (unless it is,maybe, an ftp site - in the future, HFS site etc...)

I'm not sure how much use it may have, but it is something that others don't have. It can also help giving access to multiple file systems either on REAL web sites, or even ,multiple PCs in a local network, with only HFS systems on them...

Again - it is ONLY an idea. Upload seems more important...

Have a nice & restfull weekend
Title: bad link
Post by: Rafi on October 19, 2003, 08:06:20 PM
the link http://www.rejetto.com/hfs/guide/ in Menu->Web->help is bad...

Also I suggest to point it to the local html doc under "help" main menu.

And I suggest to rename it from index.html to something like readme.html or manual.html

Installed 1.5c yesterday & got it working early today.

I had lots of trial & error with configuring my router, my ISP uses PPPOE plus I have 3 PC's running off the router. It took about 10mins once I got a friend on the phone & had him try like 15 different addresses.

But it's working great so far, I'm going to modify the HTML template a little over the next week or so & see what happens.

I build & repair PC's (just on the side for friends & family) & this is owesome, now I can set my PC up running your app before I leave with all the possible files I'll need to help someone. Then just download them right to ther PC if I need them, no more CD's to carry around.

Cheers

Hmmm... Is the header correct?
Server: HFS 1.5cContent-Disposition: attachment;  filename="File.ext"
It seems that the header is like that whenever I download a file from HFS 1.5c.
Is it supposed to be like this?:
Server: HFS 1.5c
Content-Disposition: attachment;  filename="File.ext"
Thanks rejetto!

When you are sharing any files using HFS, HFS returns the following headers:
Here's an example: (HTTP Headers between browser and HFS)
Quote
GET /Example.txt HTTP/1.1
Host: 127.0.0.1
Accept: */*
Connection: keep-alive

HTTP/1.0 200 OK
Content-type: text/plain
Content-range: bytes 0-0/0
Content-length: 0
Server: HFS 1.5cContent-Disposition: attachment;  filename="Example.txt"
instead of...
Quote
GET /Example.txt HTTP/1.1
Host: 127.0.0.1
Accept: */*
Connection: keep-alive

HTTP/1.0 200 OK
Content-type: text/plain
Content-range: bytes 0-0/0
Content-length: 0
Server: HFS 1.5c
Content-Disposition: attachment;  filename="Example.txt"

And also does anybody know how I could modify the MIME types in HFS without modifying HFS.ini? Thanks! ;)

Yes, I know that...
But how should I add a MIME type when I am there?
Enter, Insert?? Hmmm...

You put the what's new list only on the sources zip and not in the binary zip...

yes
you can find the what's new list on this forum, so you won't have to download sources
aren't you happy?

Very happy... :D I have just notices that it is here...

And Rejetto, not everyone that downloads the software is looking in this forum. I think, a news readme should be in the binary zip as well as sources zip ...  ;)

And by the way - what is "persistent connections"  :?

Thanks for the fixes !!!

if it is unchecked, connections can serve only 1 file

that is, if people browsing your HFS is downloading a page with 18 different icons, they will have to open a connection for every single icon.

to open a TCP connection can be slow, so it is advisable to let it ON.
someone needed it to be an option.
