Title: IP addres
Post by: dantachhh on May 11, 2012, 07:46:56 AM
So what i need to do for my "final work" at high school is HFS server. I managed to set up my server but only with external addres (i sent that IP to a friend and it is working, he downloaded my files etc.) But here is the problem. That external addres is changing every 24 hours or something like that, right? So i was hoping that someone could tell me how do I make an IP addres that will not change, that will last that will be unique and will define my server.
TY in advance

EDIT: my friend told me that we have to do it with "no-ip"... so basically we have to use http://****.no-ip.org but host from our home (our computer).

your friend is right.
that kind of service is called "dynamic dns".
HFS supports no-ip, go in the Menu > dynamic dns updater
so HFS will detect your external address changes and send an update to the no-ip service.
