I am using a network through a hub, with my DSL modem connected directly to the hub.
Why is it that i cant use the static ip from my isp, but i can just use my normal network ip of 192.168.1.2?

When you are behind your DSL modem (Behind means everyone is using the DSL modem as their internet provider) Then the microsoft loopback driver takes over locally.
This means that anyone using that DSL modem (including yourself) needs to use the locl DMZ IP addresses (The 192.160.XXX.XXX). Anyone out side your network needs to use the ip address of your DSL modem. You can get this by looking in the Firewall settings. Make sure you open the correct port on the firewall or no one will beable to access your computer.
My network is setup the exact same way.
My computer has a 192.168.100.23 address and my Modem has an ip address assigend by the ISP.

you should try to select the right IP address from the menu.
if the right address is not available, then that is not your address, but the one of your modem.
you can set manually the address with using the "custom..." menu item.
however, the manual set won't be useful if the router does not send you the incoming requests.
the router could need to be configured to do that.

i would recommend using a dyndns free accunt to put an address to computer and or vise versa
or in the windows host file to fix this issue: puting you hfs machine to a custom word
(this would have to be done on all the machine, and you would need to know an ip that you would dedicate to the machine running hfs)
