Title: HFS and Anti-Virus / Security Software
Post by: TSG on July 15, 2009, 09:08:22 AM
A lot of anti-virus detect HFS as a virus. Most of the time, if not all of the time this is a false positive. Simply allow or make an exception in the application.

If it was downloaded as an official beta (http://www.rejetto.com/forum/index.php?board=33.0) or from the download link on the homepage (http://rejetto.com/hfs/?f=dl). Then you can be fairly certain it is a clean file, your anti-virus is displaying an incorrect reading. It is simply detecting that HFS is an application that connects to the internet and acts as a server. If you have downloaded HFS from another location, re-download from either of these locations to be certain.

HFS contains no Virus, Spyware or Malware!

Good security packages or firewalls will warn you about any unknown program that tries connect to the internet. And will ask if you wish to allow or deny access. All you have to do is allow HFS access to the internet.

a single antivirus can fail on detection.
so you can use www.virustotal.com and see how the file clash over tens of antivirus.
if it's only yours whining, then it's just scaremongering, a false positive.
