router & port problems / Regarding DynDns
« on: May 26, 2010, 05:12:04 AM »

I decided to just operate HFS off of my IP address and not Dyndns because one of my other servers on P80 kept getting my account disabled.

I uninstalled HFS and deleted the rejetto folder in the registry and then reinstalled HFS.  HFS when performing a self test can be seen scanning my dyndns address.

Where else on my PC is this info so I can remove it from HFS scanning.

router & port problems / HFS Self Test Won't Work
« on: May 19, 2010, 05:41:06 PM »
I get this error message

1. I've check the router and the port I've selected (81) is port-forwarded.

2. In HFS port 81 is typed in the box provided.

Still HFS cannot be reach outside the network.

Any ideas?

Can someone point me to some clear and concise directions on how to install these templates?

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Beta Version
« on: August 04, 2009, 04:06:55 PM »
I was just curious when the HFS would move out of BETA?  I currently have 2.3 build 242 and I think I've had it for months.  Is there going to be a major release at some point.  This is a great product and I enjoy using it.

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / File Sizes and HFS

Can anyone discuss on what files sizes HFS is really suited for?  Some of my recipients indicate that some file sizes just time out when trying to download them via the web.

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Re: Default Browser

This is not the case with me.  I have 2.3 build 235 and clicking open default browser in HFS makes Firefox come to life.  Internet Explorer is my default browser.

Where do you change the browser in the 2.3 build 235?

Will it be necessary to add the port number as well?

Under Menu, then IP Address I see my DynDNS account.  How can I make HFS choose this option all the time?  There are times when I see the http:169 or my external http://123.456.789:81

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Regarding External IP Address
« on: February 26, 2009, 12:44:05 AM »
How do you tell HFS to keep using your external IP address?  When I turn my system off the IP it defaults back to a http://169.XXX address.  How do you make an IP default?

I did all that was suggested here to get connected but still had probs. It appears two things were happening in my case.  I have a 2Wire router.  As directions in this forum indicate you need to make an exception in your router.  OK fine.  I did that.

Also since I installed HFS on my Vista machine I noticed that since the Win Firewall was running I added an exception there to and pointed to port 81.  When I did this everything went well.  Just doing the exception in the 2Wire router never let me pass the HFS test.  Seems you have to make changes on your PC as well if you run Win Firewall as well.

Just my two cents (but it worked).
