You may want to try XAMPP. It has everything you need to run a website.

Maybe you just answered your own question: "latest beta". :P

I don't know, but I would try a prior version.

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Re: Server for Pictures, etc.
« on: September 10, 2009, 01:08:16 AM »
Drag the folder with the gallery into HFS. Select it, right click into the context menu and select "Properties". A tabbed dialog will appear.

In the "File Masks" tab, set the "Default file mask" to index.htm or index.html or whatever the root document is for the picture album. Now when you browse to that folder in your browser, it should open like a regular web page.

Beta / Re: Testing build #246
« on: September 08, 2009, 01:47:04 AM »
Since this build, HFS turns off and won't all me to restart. I get a message saying the port is already in use but even switching ports does nothing. On exit, it gives this error:

Code: [Select]

That's a pretty cool mod. If anyone finds a flash object that you can serve on your host machine, let us know.

You guys may not know this and I don't know if it works with other players, but I can just drag audio files from Firefox right into foobar and it will stream them directly from my server. :)

ok thanks...

BUT I want a script (or something else) which knows, there is a music file in the folder, and then should be loaded an other template...

Do you want to stream music from a browser?

HTML & templates / Re: How To Change Default Folder Icon For ALL Folders
« on: August 03, 2009, 04:28:35 PM »
I suggest you to use the next template code:
in your ICONS folder you can put icons files named

file extension : mp3.gif, exe.gif, ... ; if the file exist for a specific extension then it replace the default icon %item-icon%
folder name   : uploadicon.gif, iconsicon.gif, ... ; if the file exist for a specific name then it replace the default icon  /icons/folder.gif

Works beautifully! Thanks for the info, you've saved me a LOT of time! :)

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Re: embedded thumbnails
« on: August 02, 2009, 10:38:24 PM »
I would rather proper icon support than this, personally. If you have the time to spend... Vista and 7 have really nice icons and its a shame that they cant be used by HFS. And XP has atleast 32x32 and 48x48 so I think it is worth the effort...

I like the idea, don't get me wrong, but I would prefer... after 3 years using HFS and hearing the complaints about the icons, to get that sorted out first. I am pretty sure you just have to display them as PNG24 or something and most browsers will work with the transparency, except IE6, but they will still show.

Agreed. The icon situation is a mess! It's caused me a headache or 2. Still patiently waiting after 2 years however. ;)

Regarding thumbnails, you can use flash. It's not convenient as server generated thumbs but it's pretty fast once the thumbs load. You can also generate galleries using Porta or Picasa. Porta's probably the better of the two for this particular object.

Still gotta tweak the CSS a bit to even things out. Gotta say I'm loving the new features (I had been using the same version of HFS for over a year).

Hi

When I connect to my site (server) and enter the upload directory and login in from there,
when I return to the root, I'm not logged in. I am only logged in when in the upload directory!

Now if I go to login in from the root through the menu, it logs me in immediately upon clicking login from the menu.

One other little bug; when flattening the file listing ("file list"), the server favicon reverts to the icon in the HFS executable.

*Edit: This is a subdirectory related occurrence. It doesn't just happen with the upload folder. Not really a bug I think, just more
of a side effect.

HTML & templates / How To Change Default Folder Icon For ALL Folders
« on: August 01, 2009, 11:20:09 AM »
Hi

Does anyone know how to change the default folder icon? I don't want to use the system folder icon. I'd like to change it to a custom icon or preferably PNG.

I know you can change each folder individually, but I want to change the default that applies to all other folders.

I know that HFS outputs ~img_folder into the HTML it generates, but I haven't figured out how to change it in the newest build.

In the old script it was as easy as:

<td><a href="%item-url%"> %new% <img align="top" src="/Folder.ico" border="0" alt="">&nbsp;&nbsp;<b>%item-name%</b></a></td>

Thanks for any info!

This has probably been carried over from previous versions, but just noticed it now. When right clicking on a folder in the virtual file system pane, it says "Hide file extention in listing"...should be extension.

Here's one for you. I changed the default folder icon in the template. Now, for my main icons, I can't change them, well I can. As you can see, they show in the HFS tree, but they don't show when viewing in the browser.
