HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Re: Help - Menu Access with no Icon?
« on: July 30, 2011, 03:40:16 PM »
What version of HFS?
One way In 2.3 beta 279 is to open the hfs.ini file (in folder with hfs.exe) in a
good text editor and change line 71 to
show-main-tray-icon=yes

« on: July 30, 2011, 03:30:00 PM »
In what HFS version?
Have you configured the log, by right click on log window, then "Log to file"?
There are many ways possible. Searching the forum should provide
a lot of info.

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Re: You are behind a router
« on: July 22, 2011, 06:41:47 AM »
Is it because Self Test failed that you believe your server can't be accessed?
I just checked Self Test here, here and it failed, said I was behind a router
(and I am) but my server is accessible, I just connected to it from work tonight.
Self Test hasn't been working lately.
You mentioned several ports, pick one and set it in HFS and forward it in your router
to your computers static LAN address. Go to http://canyouseeme.org/ and enter your
port. If canyouseeme can see your server, others should be able to connect to your
http://address:port/

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Re: deny versus not found
« on: July 14, 2011, 02:18:14 PM »
OK, I overlooked that,  but how do users obtain a hot link?
It would seem, someone with access (that can see it) would have to share it.
Would it be possible to do an event script to block these?
It's never been a problem here, so I'm not familiar.
Would something structured like
Code: [Select]
[+request]
{.if|{.match|.php;.js|%url%.}|{:{.disconnect.}:}
.}
in events be made to stop hot linking?

How exactly is a hot link structured? Does it always contain @ for the login?

Edit:
This events macro works for php and js hack attempts when HFS runs in Windows,
but not on Ubuntu 11.04/Wine. In windows the macro wont work with @ because, apparently
the browsers don't recognize @ in
https://user:pass@ip address:port/Folder1/Folder2/File-name.ext
as being part of the url........so.... still think there could to be a way.
I'll experiment more tonight after work.

HTML & templates / Re: Need Help Please
« on: July 14, 2011, 07:31:29 AM »
1) Yes, it is done by adding macros to the template. I don't remember if the default tpl has it?
2) Yes, but it depends on whether the file is protected, and if so, not all browsers are capable
   of using the link.
Searching the forum should find topics on both.

If you have
Menu > Virtual File System > List Protected Items Only For Allowed Users
check marked they can only see what you have given them access to.
Eliminates the need for a error page.

Bug reports / %speed-in% doesn't work
« on: July 02, 2011, 08:02:40 PM »
Wiki page HFS:_Template_symbols lists %speed-in% & %speed-out% as "available in all sections"?
I'm trying to use %speed-in% with my upload form.
Searched forum for %speed-in%,....got many results, but none on topic?
With a file transfer running, these symbols return  0.00 here.

proxy server such as http://www.hidemyass.com,
I just tried "hidemyass" and I can't connect to my server through them. They have a problem.
I can through http://kproxy.com/
It appears HFS self test isn't working here.  Use http://canyouseeme.org/ to check your port,
it works, just used it.
http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ as posted by French works great too.

Doesn't %sequential% give similar result?

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Re: No Home Directory to show in browser
« on: June 11, 2011, 05:27:10 AM »
1)  they also want all their sub-folders pw locked with different passwords.  Then when they login to their user's Main folder they can't access the sub-folders because they are not shown.

2) When they try to first login with the pw for the subfolder, it won't go directly to the subfolder and won't log in.
Maybe I'm not setting it up correctly?
1) Different than their login password ? Doesn't sound very user friendly to me.
2) Sounds like a configuration problem.

My server has one main folder that everyone logs into. Inside that are the folders for each account.
User1 logs into "Main" but can only see his folder, but it wouldn't matter, even if he could see User2's folder
he couldn't open it. Inside User1's folder are his subfolders. These are all separate folders on my HD and are
added to User1's folder by drag and drop. Each subfolder is "real" and has its own permission's set in Properties,
some by user, but most by group. I assume you know to right click on the folder and go to Properties to set them?
I have redirect set on most users, either by group or individually.
Wouldn't that solve it or do I misunderstand the problem?

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Re: No Home Directory to show in browser
« on: June 10, 2011, 04:30:24 PM »
I have multiple user folders beneath the Home Directory, once one of them logs on they can click on the home folder and see all the other's users folders.  So it would be from inside the system.
Thanks for your response.
Do you have
Menu > Virtual File System > List Protected Items Only For Allowed Users
Check marked ?

It appears that self test isn't working, can someone else confirm?

« on: April 21, 2011, 03:39:01 PM »
I confirm, self test is hanging, but am able to connect to my server OK.
Find external address is working. Checked with 277, then 267.

HTML & templates / Re: making a log entry from within an index.html
« on: April 08, 2011, 06:13:27 PM »
Doesn't browser cache play a role in this too?

I have noticed that something appears to have changed.
When I returned to my index page in the past, events for
user agent, etc would log again, now they don't.

If I can find the time, I may test some older builds on XP Pro
for this. I'm using Ubuntu/Wine also, and its difficult to isolate
the cause of problems.

I think its a fault with Google Chrome. All seems to work
as I'd expect with FireFox and Opera.
