Title: Ban Error bug.
Post by: TSG on February 07, 2009, 07:09:36 AM
I got a report on MSN today about a bug with my templates and the 'Ban' error page.

Basically if someone is banned, the error page they are displayed is broken. This is because they have been denied access to the 'template' folder containing all the css and images required to display the page.

I propose a macro that can set like an exception in [special:begin]... So we can create an exception to the ban for the '/template' directory, allowing the page to be displayed properly.

I'm not real familar with your template, but the HFS [ban] section has been that way for a long
time. My work around was to add style to just that one section.  ;)

this is a sensitive topic.
the guy was banned. he may be very evil to us.
should we give him access to that "template" folder?
opinions?

He mighted've been banned for bad manners, that doesn't take his rights for a nice template with the ban reason.  :P

The template folder is hidden and cant be browsed, essentially he is still banned from the server. All we would do is allow that folder to be opened by the template. Its up to you, I'll just leave it broken otherwise, if a user is banned, they are banned for a reason.
