Rejetto.

Is it allowed to release a program based on your sourcecode with modifications? If so, what is necessary to do for it to be legal?

I've tried reading the GPL license. But I can't understand it.

Any input would be welcomed.

You can help rejetto developing it instead of making a new based program.:P
But it's your choice.:^^:

it's quite simple: if you publish a modified version, ensure you
1. publish modified sources as well
2. publish under GPL license

Alright then. I'll begin when you release the next version. Just kidding. I probably won't. But it's good to know that the possibility is there.

As for not helping him develop it... it's because we have different views on what it should be like.

Well. In another topic, you said you couldn't add every single feature. But my intention would be to do so.

Both have their ups and downs, but I believe in customization. Everyone should be able to have things exactly like they want to.

Well. That's what I think at least.

Though. Having every option in a single program would be quite the resource hog... so the only way to do it right is having modules that you can choose to load or not.

So then I may just as well create a similar program from scratch. Because changing everything would be too bothersome.

i agree with you about customization
but options is not the way: when there are too many options, the user just doesn't find what he wants

plugins is not the way: developing (design/create/debug) a plugin is laborious

i think scripting is the way
