Beta / Re: 2.4 beta unicode problem
« on: July 27, 2020, 09:15:44 PM »
i'm going to use a standard Windows' function "IsTextUnicode" that guesses the format of the ouput.
it's not 100% reliable but that's it.

For example, this is "normal" dir listing
{.exec|cmd /c dir tmp\*.txt|out=x.}{.^x.}

Code: [Select]
08/06/2020  11:27             1.004 post-data.txt
07/07/2020  14:58               607 swipe panels.txt
10/02/2004  17:01             3.100 ?.txt
10/02/2004  17:01             3.100 ?.txt
10/02/2004  17:01             3.100 ?è?.txt
               7 File         16.524 byte

and this is when /u will produce unicode output
{.exec|cmd /u /c dir tmp\*.txt|out=x.}{.^x.}
Code: [Select]
08/06/2020  11:27             1.004 post-data.txt
07/07/2020  14:58               607 swipe panels.txt
10/02/2004  17:01             3.100 會.txt
10/02/2004  17:01             3.100 生.txt
10/02/2004  17:01             3.100 生è生.txt
               7 File         16.524 byte

this result is possible only in next release

i started studying the problem, but it's not trivial.
apparently the output of consoles can be "oem" or unicode.

next release will let you customize this header too

« on: July 27, 2020, 09:54:08 AM »
i'm not sure what Mars was referring to with that.
The 2 headers reported here are overwritten by HFS because the [request] event is executed first.
I think it's good to keep it flexible, so from next release HFS will set those headers only if the user didn't already set them.

HTML & templates / Re: Connected users (minus yourself)
« on: July 26, 2020, 12:10:47 PM »
Each time someone connects to my server, he is able to see how many persons are connected (included himself).
Is there any way to see these persons minus one person (himself)?

a meaningful counting of "people" is a problem in the web world.
The web browser doesn't have a "stable" connection to the server. If you search wikipedia you'll find that http is a "stateless" protocol.
I know when a connection is open and closed, but i don't really know when people "go". The connection can be closedatn any moment by the browser and that doesn't mean the user is gone.

and when all connections pass through SSL, hfs only sees the address 127.0.0.1, which prevents ip filtering from hfs

unless you use the method I posted using nginx ;)

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Re: "max connections"

ok but i'm not seeing how  your suggestion is going to NOT have the same problems. Can you explain?

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / "max connections"
« on: July 09, 2020, 01:56:54 PM »
I wonder if the option "max connections" is really any good or if it only makes problems.
I saw several cases of people having problems, because the browser doesn't behave well with the way HFS is refusing the connection.
I made several attempts at changing the method (backlog, not accepting, aborting), and several research, but nothing improved.
I think I should remove this option.

@mars, that would be some attempt at limitation but not a "limit on the number of connections"

browsers don't handle well this kind of limits

Beta / Re: version 2.4
« on: July 08, 2020, 01:27:03 PM »
Just 2 things:  archive is unlimited and the per-file menu has some undefined

wow, what a bad quality pre-release :D i'm always on a rush because of job :( trying again with this new attachment

For archive limit, I suggest, no archive at root, no archive if current folder is already 4gb, no archive if more than 1 download, no archive if more than 0 upload.  That isn't enough, but it is better.

i find these rules only apparently related to the problem

Could add a 'manual' validation with the pop-up message stating that it could take a while to get a .tar file (most users will click 'cancel' at that point because they don't want .tar file anyway).

you may be right, let's try

i don't see how the speed limit can cause faults. Can you tell?
The extra work is good work for those who need the feature.
