HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Desires for the next version

yes, i got what he said, but i don't get how to do it...

The idea to be able to download several selected files (or at least a single whole directory) is a good and useful idea. I too have no quick solution in mind, but here are some thoughts:

1. when one uses ftp:// in IE - it turns into explorer-like interface and you have a "copy to folder" menu option for selected files. so if you'll  support ftp protocol it will do it for you (bad idea, ahh ? ..., out of the HFS scope ? )

2. I have getright (older version) , I used the "open with getright browser" and in thier file browser you can select several files... It works, BUT - you have to fix bugs in viewing the HFS tree in getright browser (!!!)

3.  you may be able to add your own "download with HFS " menu item in the right clicked IE menu but this involves a special installation by HFS, and maybe - your own browser (too complex... ?)

4. May be add a small Java script that will activate multiple "save as" for the user. He will "select" files/directories and pres a special global button. (or maybe at first put a "save all"  button near every directory name. Not very elegant though... )

That's all I can think of ... at least - #2 works, so maybe it is the simplest way for now.

after updating from RC5:
- you cannot manually edit the address toolbar (e.e. change the IP) .The refresh should be done differently (or be made optional?)
i did not notice it!

What do you mean ? did you see that ? try change the IP - and the HFS will change it back at once ! (BTW - looks to me your 10 sec==1 sec...)

- when doing "browse it " it askes for password (non were defined)
ARGH!

??? what is ARGH ???

- when doing "save as" on non ascii file names (e.e. Hebrew) - the file name in the save as dialog is empty (shows only the ASCII/english chars - such as the ".xxx")

Well, the option you suggested for it - is a good idea!

P.S.:

1. <CR> is missing in  file "comment" in the tooltip
2. remember the tooltip on the toolbar icon? the separators between fields
are "junk" hebrew chars. (win98SE hebrew enabled). Can you try use different separators? maybe simple spaces ?
3. May be -  add release-info/changes on "what's new" in a scrolling "check for news" dialog
4. Status bar->"sent:" is x'xxx'xxx instead of x.xxx.xxx   :-)
5. The new URL Encode setup - should effect only the display in the address toolbar, not the "href" data in the web page (should be always encoded, since it does not work w/o it ...)

after updating from RC5:
- you cannot manually edit the address toolbar (e.e. change the IP) .The refresh should be done differently (or be made optional?)
- check for updates - shows rc1
- when doing "brawse it " it askes for password (non were defined)
- I agree with others - the "strange URL" in the address bar - might be a bit  too strange ...
- when doing "save as" on non ascii file names (e.e. Hebrew) - the file name in the save as dialog is empty (shows only the ASCII/english chars - such as the ".xxx")

(Upgrade problems ? )

i think it is bad to make it as an option

Thanks.

BTW - Have you had a chance to fix the problem with Hebrew chars in file names ?

1.5 rc6 will check for ip changes once/second

I suggest to make it once every XXX seconds (XXX configurable, default - 10).

Here two  problems I noticed:

edited:
Problem #1 was my error ! bad source file... deleted...

2. If, for some reason, my ISP disconnects me, and I redial/re-connect, I get a new IP for my PC. The HFS server - does not notice this change and remains in the "old" IP. Is it possible to have an option for auto-checking for IP change every xxx seconds ?

Thanks

see my post in: http://www.rejetto.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=937 that includes a sample file name.

it happens in "save target as..."
it does not happen in "getright" downloader ...

Strange!
