Everything else / Profile pages and web crawlers
« on: November 13, 2007, 07:41:23 AM »
Would it be possible to create a robots.txt file that stopped crawlers reading any profile pages? As it stands, if you
put your email/msn addresses in your profile you run the risk of every spam crawler known to man getting your
details and bombarding your email :(

+ Menu -> Virtual File System -> "Links before"

This is possibly a stupid question, but what does 'Links before' do? It's not a very descriptive name at all :S

I don't see the point in removing it just because you can. If you already have the flv player
working, why get rid of it?

RAWR-Designs / Re: ToG in Different Flavours?
« on: September 26, 2007, 01:46:00 PM »
On the subject of ToG naming scheme wouldn't it make more sense to call them ToG Heavy, ToG regular and ToG Light? Regular includes a full feature set. Heavy includes the extra 'eye candy/bloat'. Light includes a subset of features. It makes more sense than the naming scheme you're currently going with.

Do you have any compelling reasons to name them how you've named them other than trying desperately to not put a name that sounds negative on the heavy version? My naming scheme at least has some reasoning behind it...

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Re: Archivable, Browsable, No Download....

Does it matter if the words aren't in the dictionary? Maybe it's just me but i've always found
the meaning to be very clear.

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Re: PFS - look at this, just like HFS
« on: August 11, 2007, 09:29:01 AM »
I remember someone posted a whiel back on this forum abuot some guy selling HFS as a different
product. I can't remember if it was this product or not but it turned out rejetto had given the guy
permission to do it so don't jump the gun here.

I think we got this working in Thunderchicken of Glory template  by using a DivX plugin. You might want
to check out the ToG board (http://www.rejetto.com/forum/index.php?board=34.0). It's looking a bit bloated
these days, but all the features you could want in a template are there.

Confirm TSG's post. I use windows classic and don't get any double separators either

I actually liked it better without the icon for the Port section on the menu bar. IMO it looked more professional without
it. Maybe it's just the goofy looking port icon, i don't know. Has anyone else been thinking the same thing?

RAWR-Designs / Javascript security in template
« on: July 13, 2007, 10:30:59 AM »
AJAX is often used in web applications without need. This is because it has become one of the latest buzz words
in IT. It would, however, work very well in HFS as it would allow refreshing of certain elements of the page (such
as the files list) without requiring the rest of teh page to be reloaded. Yes, javascript is a security risk. Yes, it
isn't essential. Did you pick up on the fact that web servers also can have security holes in them? Hell, your OS
itself (especially if you're running Windows) is littered with security holes. The best way to keep your system
completely safe is to just get off the internet.

But while we're on the subject of meaningless, WRONG statistics, check this page out, Maverick:
http://72.14.253.147/search?q=windows%20malicious
I think you'll find the value is quite alot higher than the value for javascript. Maybe you should switch OS's :)

The point of my post is, javascript and AJAX can provide a far greater benefit with their use than a drawback.
Keep your OS patched, keep your browser up to date and keep your code written well and you won't have any
problems any time soon.

Prawned.

Sorry, didn't realise the on/off button was still there. Didn't see it in the menu. I'm still having a problem
where i have 'max simultaneous downloads from a single address' at 2 but my brother is able to create
4 downloads with his download manager. Is this because all 4 connections are downloading the same file
and as such are not treated as individual downloads? If i set the 'max simultaneous connections' it'd
probably count the HTML connection(s) so that's no help either as sometimes browsers create many
connections

It would make a little more sense if the port change alertbox was reworded. If you enter
80.5 it says 'Numbers only' but 80.5 is a number...
Maybe 'Valid integers between 1 and 57599 only' would be a more appropriate message.

Also, why was the 'on' button removed? If i've kept my VFS but have lost my settings file,
I have lost all my user account information and my HFS is vulnerable until i create a
temporary account to block everything with. It made more sense to have the on-off button,
even if it's the first item in the 'Menu' drop down for security purposes.

Could the update popup please display the version/build number of the new and current versions of HFS?
Could the new version also be displayed in the check for update line in the log file?

Could the lines in the virtual file system box be put back in permanently? I don't like them disappearing.
It's annoying needing to put my mouse inside the box just to be able to see more clearly the folder
linkings.

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / folder menu too long
« on: July 04, 2007, 04:14:57 AM »
The right click menu for folders is getting pretty convoluted. Would it be possible to break
option groups up into subgroups? Stuff like
Filters/Masks ->
Restrictions ->
Accessibility ->

30
Use the archived folder feature of HFS. copy whatever folder you want on hfs. then load the page:
domain/folder/~folder.tar

This will download the folder and every file/folder within it. No gigantic zip file is created on your
comp, it is all created in real time as the person downloads. The output file is a .tar file, you'll
need a compression utility such as winrar or winzip to access it.
