i take some screenshots next time it happends.

hfs gets a memory leak , and "takes" all ram memory.
hfs alone can use up to 1 gig ram.
at that time the hfs window is still active but has frozen.
and cant be accessed from the web or localy.
the .vfs file is still there.

now there is nothing else to do that shut hfs down.
after that the vfs file is removed.

the server is backup'ed every day so i can restore the "missing" vfs file.
the site get's about 8000-10000 hits/day , maybe its to much sometimes.?? i dont know.

HFS should never use that much ram of course, you should understand what part/feature is causing the memory leak.
You can get to it by disabling some features, until you find.

what versions are subjected to this problem?

after that the vfs file is removed.
is this removal automatic?
does it happen when you quit or when you restart?

HFS is supposed to stand such load.

last version it happen on was 274

the .vfs file is removed when the process is ended.
hfs cant be shut down in normal way , you have to end the process.

yes hfs runs for month after month with those hits every day , then sudenly it hangs and use al that memory.

there is a error window that pops up.
but the only ionfo in that is "out of memory" and the details of my server.
and that i shud copy that and send it to you.

server details.
2400mhz
2 gig ram
2000gig hard drives and 2 16 gig usb drives , public part runs from the usb sticks.
windows xp all updates. (legal copy)

so, it's solved in recent builds?
if not, tell me when this problem started.

the .vfs file is removed when the process is ended.

that is not normal, unless HFS was currently saving the file, and killing causes the file to be empty/deleted.

if it takes a month to reproduce the problem we may never see the light.
HFS is not exactly a rock-solid software, maybe restarting it once a week. You can automate it.
