Deutsch / Re: Wie richte ich HFS Http File Server unter Windows 7 x64?
« on: November 28, 2010, 08:05:11 PM »
Nicht ins Programme-Verzeichnis installieren/kopieren. Normale Programme haben dort kein Schreiberecht. Benutze ein Verzeichnis in deinem Profil, dann sollte es gehen.

On the other hand, the Auto-update bug is gone.

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / upload problems

While HFS doesn't have such a limit, unfortunately almost all browsers have (either 2GiB-1, or 4GiB-1). AFAIK Opera is the only browser which is able to upload big files.

HFS works on Server 2008. Runs on both 32 and 64bit. Newest beta recommended.

I know, but how should I test #269's?

Update automatically is still broken. I've done the version-march backwards and determined the start of the problem. Build #264 still works beautifully, but builds #265 and onwards have this bug. I looked at the changelog for #265, and there were several update-related changes. I fear one of them causes this problem.

1. Nope, was always right after system startup and all HFS were completely idle, I checked. That's the ones I have for OS compatibility, they usually aren't accessed at all, only there for regression testing (Win95, Win98, WinNT4, Win2k).

2. When I wrote my previous reply, their readme still said 28 days. That now seems to be gone. I'd propose 24 days as this should prevent the expiry email from being sent. :) But 25 days is OK, too.

1. "Update automatically" seems to be broken, I always had to press the button (occured on 2 different systems now, from build #266). Will keep testing.

2. I still think 15 days is too short for DynDNS.com. On their site they state that forced updates using an 28 day interval are allowed, anything shorter is abuse.

Look in the menu, you need to enable Autosave VFS on exit.

I tested the Revert feature and was able to see the batch. Well, let the picture speak for itself:

It worked nonetheless. ;D

Then the next "WTF?" moment:

Seems to be a pure display glitch...

It is working in 64bit OS (via WOW64) already.

@mars: KERNEL32 dll is an integral windows component (if not THAT one) and can neither be substituted, nor can you use a newer one just for HFS, because the API calls dig deep into the OS' bowels.  ::)

@rejetto: Just FYI, the HFS you provided in this thread works in Windows 95.  ;)

OK, I'll test this. However, the intention of this thread is purely informational, I really don't need a working build for Win95. I just want to inform if it stops working, nothing more.

From today, Windows 2000 is also obsolete, so it wouldn't be bad to drop support for one or two of the oldest legacy platforms...
