If you want only one user with a 'master account', then you have to do 'what you hate': give this master user access rights to all te individual folders.
But if you want to have several users with a 'master account', then define master-group, give then access to all folders to this master-group. Then if you want to add a new user with master privileges, make him member of this group and all is done!
If you 'hate' to select all the folders to set permissions, maybe you are really lazy
, or you should think of giving your virtual filesystem a different structure (more trees, less folders bound to root)
