Is it possible that this is the problem whate u r talking about?

No, that's not what I'm talking about.

I'm talking about how to allow only so many people (different IP addresses) on the server at the same time.    If I want only 5 people (5 different IP addresses) access to my server at one time,  how do I set that limit?

Can HFS limit the amount of different IP addresses that enter the server at one time?

I thought the max connection setting in limits would do it, but it doesn't.  It doesn't seem to be working right.

The other day my HFS server had 128 connections that I noticed when I looked and I don't know how many different IP's were on in total at one time but there were quite a lot.  My log was huge.  I tried to limit the amount of different IP's entering my server  to 5 by using the max connection setting in limits.  That setting didn't work right as it seemed to limit that 5 as if it was a max connection limit from a single IP address which is the other setting in limits.

Rejetto, can you give me an idea how this is supposed to work or is this a bug?

Tested with HFS v2.0 beta 20 and 21 --> same result :?:

You don't change SYSTEM defaults to accommodate a single program. Each application should take care of itself...

While what you say is true, the option is simple - to "beep" or "not to beep" on download or connection.  IMHO this is definitely nothing major that requires a HFS code change.  A system default sound is a system default sound nothing more.  I enabled beep for a while then disabled it as it was driving me going off every few seconds.

If any of you are exeriencing cpu usage issues, this small utility might come in handy for you.

Process Tamer is a tiny and efficient utility for Microsoft Windows XP/2K/NT that runs in your system tray and constantly monitors the cpu usage of other processes. When it sees a process that is overloading your cpu, it reduces the priority of that process temporarily, until its cpu usage returns to a reasonable level.

There are many times when a process will hog your cpu, such as when converting audio/video files, or working with compressed archives. Because these processes completely consume the cpu, your system becomes sluggish to respond and using the computer for other tasks becomes impossible while these processes are running.

Process Tamer solves this problem by identifying these conditions and temporarily reduce the priority of the offending processes in order to allow your system to respond to other requests. Stop being a victim to an overloaded cpu - let Process Tamer keep your system responsive no matter what you're doing.

You'll see a baloon tooltip in your system tray whenever Process Tamer adjusts or restores the priority of an application, so you'll always know what it's doing and why.

There are times when you probably won't want Process Tamer to change process priorities, such as when playing games or if you are burning a cd/dvd on a slow computer; just double click its icon to toggle it on and off.

You can also specify override rules for specific applications in order to tell the program to ignore them, force them to high or low priorities, or even to kill them as soon as they are found running.

There is no way to customize a sound (yet), I think? :?:

Just go into the Control Panel > Sounds and change the system default to anything you would like.

I just realized that the comment feature - File (real) & Folder (real & virtual) support the img tag!
Great now I have something else to play around with.

Yes I know I can do that, but it whuld still be only one language it whuld be worse becouse it whuld not be english and most people on the world don't know Polish (my langage) I meant Multilanguage. so serwer whuld choose version of template based on data from i dont know from browser or just clickable flag buttons. if there is such option then I missed it if not... I cant do a thing.

Have 2 templates.  One English and the other Polish (use a different filename like polish.html).  In the English template (which would be your default hfs.tpl) include a link to the Polish template and show the link in a button next or near to the logged in user name.  Your Polish users could click on that Polish template link and should be presented with HFS pages in Polish except for maybe filenames.  I haven't tested it, but should work unless there is something hardcoded in the HFS engine stopping it.

Hi!
I think he meant a situation when for example you have tons of pictures.
U have a folder called dogs and 1.jpg, 2.jpg... there
and you have cat-s, flovers, anything else.
If i search for dogs i wont find anything...

I use the javascript search engine method (advanced).   I just did a test based on your example above.  My results are below:

YES the search engine will find ALL of the jpg's found in a folder called dogs no matter what filename those jpg's use.  The search engine has to be configured to index the folder called dogs.

In the search name field, just put the word dogs in there, select "filename" and "all words" from the drop down menus (which I configured as my default choices) and click the search button.  The search results show all of the jpg's located in the dogs folder and they are confirmed by the path shown underneath each filename in the search results.

You must have done something wrong when configuring the search engine  as it works perfectly here.

Chez,

You have to understand what indexing means.  It will index folders - meaning that it will index the "contents" of the folders that you tell it to index.  It will even index a complete drive or partition as well as a complete CD or DVD drive.

Think about it.  If someone comes to your site and wants to do a search would they even know you had a folder named temp and would want to find it?  No.  They would be searching for specific words, filenames, extensions etc.

Now if you had a file named for example temp.doc or whatever but it includes the word temp in it and this file is located in a folder called temp, and the search engine is configured to index the folder called temp,  the search engine would find the file named temp.doc and tell you with a complete path that it is located in your temp folder.  That file could also be downloaded directly from the search engine search results page and HFS  would still log and count the download.

Try different indexing configurations until you have the type of search results you want.

You don't have to wait until rejetto releases a HFS search engine.  That could take a very long time.

I have been using a product called Search Engine Builder Pro with HFS since v2.0 beta 1.  It works very good, highly configurable, it's quick, and it's very easy to use and incorporate into HFS.  

There are no HFS stability issues at all.
