HFS ~ HTTP File Server / question about URL forming "localhost" ...
« on: March 02, 2011, 08:53:44 PM »
hello guys,
i have set my "IP" setting in HFS to my external Dyndns address, so when I look at my HFS window, it shows up in the address bar at the top (for copying URLs)

the thing is when I click "browse" button, it still opens up "http://localhost/whatever.file".  How can I get it to open up as "http://my.dyndns.com/whatever.file" for example?  is it possible?  thanks guys!
p.s. I am using beta #275!

Bug reports / beta #272 - link with '?' or '=' doesnt show up!!
« on: December 14, 2010, 09:43:04 PM »
hi, i've got HFS beta #272 running, and have a 'real' folder defined with some links in it.   One link in particular does not show up:
http://support.kaspersky.com/viruses/solutions?qid=208280684

when I define this, the link disappears.
if I change it to just
http://support.kaspersky.com/viruses/

then it magically comes back.
so it seems like maybe ? sign or maybe '=' sign is causing problem for HFS to parse the link? not sure.  Can it be fixed?
thanks!!

hi guys,
i use HFS beta #271, working great

I have an 'upload' folder that I want friends, family etc to be able to connect to (without log in) just anonymous and upload files... but I don't want anyone to be able to download anything from that folder.  So far I have been able to achieve this by setting the "no download" flag on the folder properties in HFS.  But I want to create a special "super user" who can Log In and thus be able to download any file from the uploads folder.

Is this possible?   I couldn't make it work.  thanks so much for any guides.

Bug reports / VFS - File System gets Corrupted!!
« on: August 26, 2008, 03:20:11 PM »
hi friends,
I love HFS it's amazing, but I find that if my computer get shut down improper-  for example if power plug would be pulled by mistake, then next time HFS will start with "empty" file system-  i.e. it lose all its settings, etc.

since HFS have a very complex and not- easy to use GUI (sorry but its true!!) this takes lot of time to re-set all the options etc to our taste.

is it possible to avoid the VFS becoming corrupted each time the computer would crash?  For me, I do not see the purpose of leaving the VFS in an "unstable" state while the program is open.

To me, the VFS should only be read/written to when files are making changes.  Otherwise, file handle should be closed I guess to protect the integrity.

any ideas??  I use vista x64 sp1, hfs build #198
