HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Re: How to use "Custom dynamic dns updater"?
« on: January 16, 2009, 12:23:50 AM »
Now I have a Dns service refreshing IP fine, using its "Cn99qdns.exe" updater. Is this "QDNS" another type different from DNS?

Hi wyf51888,

Make sure to go through the usual round of verifying the account information and hostname are entered correctly in HFS.  Also, have you tried and experienced the same issue with DynDns's update client at http://www.dyndns.com/support/clients/windows.html ?

I'm at work right now so I can't poke around my own HFS to offer further assistance.
Thanks for the response.

I just tried Dyndns Updater, I got:
Last update---never
Current IP address---unknown....refresh IP doesn't fix it.

I have an external dynamic IP, but at the same time a few other ones: another network adapter connecting to my 2nd computer, and a virtual adapter HAMACHI IP.(5.125.xxx.xxx).

System: XP sp3.

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / How to use "Custom dynamic dns updater"?
« on: January 15, 2009, 02:25:28 PM »
As in my another thread, Dyndns fails for me, and neither CJB nor NO-IP website is even accessible.
So, I've got to try dns other than these 3..... But "custom" seems a little fuzzy for me, is it in different format for each dns service?
Could anybody please give me some instruction?

Or, any other good dns available?

Thanks.

Hi,
I tried a lot but always get:
"DNS update requested for 221.217.96.***: unknown reply:"

I have an external, dynamic IP.
HFS version: 2.2d
My Dyndns host is : hahanice.mine.nu

Please help!

Thanks.

Does the old version uses the same port as the new one? Make sure they are both running on the same port. (if the old one runned at port 8080, then make sure the new one also runs on 8080)
Yeah, exactly the same port.
And that old version is 2.0 build032.

Just create one account (Example: "Login") and set a password for it, next thing you have to do is restrict access to the root for user "Login".

Simply give the username and password to the ppl you want to acces
Multiple users for one account? That's what I've been worry about.
I just tried---- I set a new user/pass, then restrict access - anonymous ----but nothing changes.

Can I add the username and pswd into server address, like a ftp address ? - http://username:password@IP:port/

HTML & templates / sort in template?
« on: March 17, 2007, 03:20:59 PM »
Hi,
I often give my friends the hfs server address like: http://123.123.123.123:5555/?sort=t

Can I add this "?sort=t" into template, thus make it default ?

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / visitors need password ?
« on: March 17, 2007, 03:16:21 PM »
Hi,
HFS is quite secure.... but if someone knows your IP, and do a simple port scan, he can easily find your hfs server.

So, is it possible to add a password to hfs server? I mean password WITHOUT username. --- Everybody should input this password.

This will be very useful when you share files with a GROUP of people.....

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / behind a network and use hfs ?
« on: March 17, 2007, 03:07:54 PM »
I told my friend to use hfs. That's version 2.0. He's behind a network, and it turned out ok.
Now new version 2.1.088 comes out. This time my friend can get through "self test" but IE shows "Unable to connect" or "The page cannot be displayed" error.
Does "self test" prove port correctly forwarded? And why old version works fine?

you could export the template
edit by notepad, and save as new file encoding by UTF-8
then import the template

It could work.
Thank you. After doing this, only a few characters are wrong.

does it work if you edit the template in an external editor (notepad) and then paste it into HFS ?
Does not work. As showed in picture, it also swallows "0". (I added chinese words between
"<div id=folderstats>%number-folders% folders"
and
",  %number-files% files....")
