THIS is the standalone build.
the build includes node.js internally. I don't know a different way.
you want it to be compatible with win7, but this requires node.js version to be 13.
I'm using node 16.
It means someone should work on making HFS compatible with node 13.
Latest version is 19.

it's not planned, a bit out of scope, as HFS is not meant as a general web server.
HFS 2 programming language is that terrible thing I invented at the time.
HFS 3 programming language is javascript, non php.
HFS 3 supports plugins, tho. I don't exclude someone could make a plugin to support php.

surely you need to get a better certificate first.
decide to buy, or try https://letsencrypt.org/

consider HFS 3, as it has https and you don't need stunnel. Also, it's a much better software IMO.

you can't do that on the admin-panel, yes, but you can share the destination folder and give (to you) upload permission.
Folders upload is supported this way

technically yes, but when the staff is very limited, like 1 man, you hardly get everything you want

HFS is not a focused on performance, but on easy of use.
My advice is to try HFS 3 and see if it's any better, as it is a totally different technology https://github.com/rejetto/hfs
I'm no expert, but I suspect you don't reach the full bandwidth you have with a single connection. Maybe speed-tests use multiple connections.
What i'm saying is that possibly multiple downloads from your server will make a higher total.

and for those who need it: never confuse Mbps, that is megabits, with megabytes

i'm just commenting to let you know what I think, i'm not angry or sad

there's no need to be "intentional".
Doing this stuff is very consuming, sometimes painful. So, you don't do it if you don't like it, and I don't like working on version 2.
This already explains it.
Of course you are free to think there are more reasons to this, against the good old principle:
