how the "Backup saving" works

I saw the option backup saving in the virtual file system menu and i enabled it. If I need of this how can I use the backup file?

you find a file name.vfs.backup aside name.vfs
if the vfs is corrupted, HFS will automatically offer to restore from the backup
but you can handle this file as you wish manually
