There comes a new template working in progress: the NanoLight template.

Its goal is to act like a terminal, build a bridge between administrators and the server, and also convinient file sharing.

But you may wait for a long time, as I really have few time to work on this.

Features:
  • It's a powerful console! With highlighting! (powered by Microlight.js)
  • Its HTML part is lightweight. Though it has heavy JavaScript, it will be cached.
  • It may inherit some useful parts of Takeback.

See snapshot for a day dream? :D

Plan & Progress:
(O) Basic usability
(O) Basic commands (ls/dir, help, cd, clear/cls etc.)
(O) Basic design, "theme" command
(O) Basic I/O system
(O) Basic command parse (quotes, switches, arguments etc.)
(...) Client-Server communication, server-side command execution
(...) Advanced "cd" command (No refresh)
(...) Advanced command parse (pipe, variables etc.)

With a dark background, it looks like a hack site.  That can confuse the end-users so that they can't guess the purpose.

It looks like the 1978~1992 version of the internet, which was really inconvenient and unpopular.  So, with the inconvenience theming, it just won't matter if the functionality was good or not.

Perhaps consider emulating the Xerox/GEM/MAC terminal styles?

Congrats for the idea! :) A terminal console is never outdated (in the Linux world is still very popular even nowadays), and I like how it looks like (very similar to the Windows command line, which also has dark background, so, power-users will feel like home using it). I will be happy to see this template finished.
Cheers,
Leo.-

That would look great, undoubtedly! Maybe add some steampunk-ish elements, that might shake things up a bit, too

There comes an early-access of this template, in attachment. ;)

Features: (Check "help" command for all)

Some things from Takeback, like Fais the music player, file icons (needs to type in a command).
Built-in themes, try them!
Login/logout, password input hiding.
An auto hacker typer, cool!

But remember it's still in a very early stage:

Quote parsing perhaps needs fixing.
Command recommend, pipe, less/more are not usable yet.
There are still no upload, file operation(move, delete etc.) commands.
Previewing commands not added yet.
