HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Re: Help with Hardware Selection - New NAS
« on: April 08, 2020, 12:17:23 PM »
Nas are hard drive component with noc attached, ATM hfs requires a win32 environment to run, Nas of lucky will have a Barr min Linux running ftp/samba server.

So no I know of no hardware stand alone Nas that runs hfs

You have to have a derivate machine with mutiple harddrove to accomplish this.

I agree with Danny that multiple USB passport hd would be capable
Wd cloud has some good resource.

Bug reports / Re: hfs.exe 2.3 crashes multiple times a day
« on: April 08, 2020, 12:14:02 PM »
Greetings,

First off let me say I love hfs and thank you for making such a great piece of software.

I have been running 2 serves with hfs on Windows 7 (64 bit) for quite a while with very few issues.  I have been on 2.3k for a bit and the process would crash once in a while, but it was not terribly inconvenient.  However, beginning March 24, 2020 the process has been crashing every day, sometimes multiple times a day, on both servers.  I upgraded to 2.3m on Friday but the problem persists.  I attached a screenshot that shows all the crashes on one of the servers - 1 in 2017, 4 in 2018 (3 on the same day), 1 in all of 2019, and then since March 24 there have been 9 crashes.  The other server shows a similar pattern.  The errors are either:

Faulting application name: hfs.exe, version: 2.3.0.0, time stamp: 0x2a425e19
Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 6.1.7601.23915, time stamp: 0x59b94a16
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x0002f048
Faulting process id: 0x960
Faulting application start time: 0x01d60b4ede595780
Faulting application path: C:\HFS\hfs.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Windows\SysWOW64\ntdll.dll
Report Id: 93792a70-77ef-11ea-b208-2a41615dbe80

or

Faulting application name: hfs.exe, version: 2.3.0.0, time stamp: 0x2a425e19
Faulting module name: hfs.exe, version: 2.3.0.0, time stamp: 0x2a425e19
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x0000e801
Faulting process id: 0x11b0
Faulting application start time: 0x01d60a6f24cd3460
Faulting application path: C:\HFS\hfs.exe
Faulting module path: C:\HFS\hfs.exe
Report Id: e098e260-7681-11ea-b208-2a41615dbe80

The fault offset and time stamp are different each time, but it's always one of these 2 processes that fails and always exception code 0xc0000005

Thanks!
Bob

https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/2184972-ntdll-dll-crashing

First ntdll is a Windows system component and sounds like a component stroke issue

I recommend running CMD as administrator
Sfc /scannow
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /restoreHealth
Sfc /scannow

.....

This also seems like a antivirus program stoping a http session
Looks like McAfee or Norton endpoint?

Either way I don't believe hfs is the culprit it is the is and setting you have set trying to over secure a machine.

*its old, not my original work, and some quick macro copy and paste form 2 to 3 got it working.

Not sure if hfs 2.3m or latest still works with this template.
i recommend any form here for others works and master of the hfs macro code https://rawr.thatstevensguy.com/

or any of the other master of html / javascrpit codes such as DJ, Danny, and Leo

id have you double check your networking, still sounds like either a port is open or a path not allowed in router:

By adding a robot.txt file, as it seems you are have scripts scan your server.

I would recommend making and adding a custom robot
.txt file with disallow option...

HTML & templates / Re: Watchdog, Keep-Alive, No-Freeze script
« on: February 20, 2020, 06:26:37 PM »
Sure, here it is.
Code: [Select]
@echo off
:ONE
timeout /t 10 > nul
VER > nul
wget 127.0.0.1:80/favicon.ico --output-document=nul --quiet
IF %ERRORLEVEL% NEQ 0 GOTO TWO
GOTO ONE
:TWO
TASKKILL /IM hfs.exe /F
timeout /t 3
start "" "hfs.exe"
GOTO ONE
Assumptions:
Watchdog and wget in same folder as hfs.exe
filename is hfs.exe (you can edit both)
port 80 (you can edit)

Windows 7, 8, 8+1, 10 can run it.  Watchdog and wget are in the attachment.
If all is well, it says nothing on-screen (next version may get a decoration).
Test:  Exit hfs while watchdog is running, to see it start hfs in a few seconds.

?
https://www.raymond.cc/blog/network-benchmark-test-your-network-speed/

we we talk about true networking.

You testing the response form hfs via the lan and how fast it loads and responds to data in and out.

Atm chrome web console will sow in mill seconds the response and speed time.
BUT the actual network connection time would need to be monitored by a packet group
IE nmap or wireshark

the problem:
network adapter driver setting and registry can affect  network speed, access , and data limits to and from adapters

becasue windwows mess with theses constanly, windowws has a built in base version:
https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/75371-see-network-adapter-speed-windows-10-a.html

but in regards to windows that is true...

to test hfs you would need to see them all and test it on you hardware

so i lan  to lan connection speed test with wireshark sniff.
and subtract the # generated form windows claimed that is you degradation to hfs.

----------------

but know using :)
https://sourceforge.net/speedtest/

you could use html 5 built in html code to run a speed test (some html code dowlading and sharing)
http://openspeedtest.com/

https://html-online.com/articles/connectivity-speed-test-services-html5/

it looks like you were trying to hfs macro code a limit test to log something similar.

back in my first forum days, i was an ISP service provider ( i have tested hfs on a variety of machine and on gigabit fiber backbone 10 gb up down connection with out issues. ) i have found that the limitation and issue occur not from hfs but the hardware from witch it runs.

and with the variety of machine i have found discrepancy with the hardware and drivers, because windows manipulates the network adapted.

Wish you the best of luck.

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Re: Question regarding cookies
« on: December 22, 2019, 03:27:52 PM »
http://rejetto.com/forum/index.php?topic=11558.0

Not 100% sure of an answer, mby a hfs file menu setting

Or hfs macro code

The cookie only has the hfs Sid for that connection

A test vitural folder did temp with this code will show you the cookie
Code: [Select]
data.token = getCookie('HFS_SID');

Pulled from other site about cookies, mby HTML/macro code like:
Code: [Select]
delCookie('HFS_SID')

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Re: Question regarding cookies
« on: December 17, 2019, 10:38:05 PM »
appache has a html php coded login site, while HFS has  delphi / pascal built in auth system

while html is using basic authentication

because HFS ( for security ) doent have a site or pin point html locaiton, apahce is able to php comand and acess vs hfs

if need id recomend a appache reverse proxy
