Download Speed Issue

I have not  placed a limit on the Dl speed or connections.

MY isp is DSL, rated a 8gb dwn and 764 UP.
I get 9+ Down and 1+ up over several different test sites.

When downloading a file from HFS i can not exced 46kb/s.

Why?

If your ISP is implementing something like Comcast's powerboost, only the first 10mb of a file being uploaded goes at 768.  After that, it drops down to 384kb up and that is around 45Kb so that's about right.  Try running an extended test that uploads more than 10mb.  You could also call your ISP and find out.

QoS from ISP extends in most mysterious ways  .. i doubt if they will give you the reason why Selkov.
You may try port 80 (web) ... try to connect from outside to HFS from the same Ips provider ... anyway you will not exceed 128 ko/s uploading to people (I know it's 3 times higher  )

Jeez that must be nice, I was getting that but I left my fileserver open and comcast's eula says no fileservers so they capped me at 384   If you expect to keep that with ISP's in the states you should lock your fileserver down (Password root)

You should be pulling more than what you are with that. (160 or so is what I was getting at 1650 up).

You do it by right clicking your root (/ in VFS, with the Home icon).  Right click the home icon and chose Set password.  You can further restrict access to resources based on user/pass but without passwording your root, you risk losing that awesome upload speed.. I did and I wish I could go back but I guess I'll just wait until I move.. I cant guarentee that they won't cap it anyway since its against their EULA but they will not know that its a fileserver specifically, so you have a much better chance.

My buddy's been running his with comcast for awhile now.  They cut mine off within 2 weeks . (But I have alot more not-so-legal goods

Back to your main topic of not being able to pull the 160 or so you should be getting.. Hmm, it shouldnt matter but have you tryed the Experiemental speed handling via your Other options menu.  When I was pulling 160 it wasnt even created yet so I doubt this is the problem, but keep at it, I'm sure rejetto will reply soon.

I installed Beta 146.

There is no differance in download speeds

Okay so you have 768 upload so you should be able to pull something like 120. (Its probably a little higher but lets set that as a value your trying to achieve).  What port are you running HFS on?

At this point its probably an ISP limitation but you might be able to get around it. run netstat -a and let us know of any connections you dont recognize, is it possible a p2p or torrent service is uploading on another box in your network or something along those lines?

experimental high speed handling isn't working good for me either.

Sorry I was estimating, I was getting 150 to 160 on a 1150kb up average.  (Got pwned by Maverick)

I have tested my isp connection via speed test and others.
Upload speeds are always around 1500-1800 KBs.
That is of course withthe poerboost from comcast.

But even test sites with LARGE FILES that take a long time to rest avg better than 750k up.

When I am downloading a file from the HFS server I am getting 46k Upload.

Viewing the upload from within HFS I see the speed fluctuate from 25 k to 85k.

I think something is wrong.

Can someone please helpme?

I cannot see any  "Set Password" to chose.
I think you mean "Restrict Access"?
