Title: Some functions missed
Post by: Lord Vivek on April 27, 2005, 05:18:59 PM
I think nothing new I say that's it's a great program HFS. Respect.
I never have a big problem with this server hought it's works unstop about 1 year.
But as I have a combined version of files virtual (only for reason i need comments) and real (for images) I meet some uncomfortabling in using it.
After changing folder to vierual and when contens updates the time stamp don't change. I need it. I can change time stamp manual, but I need to say people that's it's fanmissions comes 4 years ago and not 2 month ago I rerun the sever. I really need more ciustomize fileds like comments, cause I need to write autor of a file, web page of the auror, and give this file uo or doen statistic to say that it;s good or not (or site  - die or live).
I really need to have the statistic under the clicking on link cause I have the statistic for a file in the same folder and can't say how much people prefer download from link I make than download a file from my machine.

Sorry I'm not good englich cause russian :}
But there's the server I have. http://darkfate.iskratelecom.ru:81/ I think some missunderstanding will miss after you click the link. No advertisment just FILE ARCHIVE for the computer game name Thief. Fell free.

Thanks for your program.

Ooops. I forgot. I don't understand why i can sort files only from old to new. Cause after some contents update I think people must see the first link - the newest.

If I am understanding you correctly, you are wondering how to add comments.  In HFS on the Virtual File System side just right click on a file or folder and select "comment".  Then add whatever comment you would like.  As for timestamps (I don't use them - %item-modified% disabled) you might have to just add again the new file to the virtual folder.  After you add or update files, when you select "save file system" aren't  timestamps updated at that time?

In hfs.tpl under [files] before %list% you can add

<tr>
<th><a href="%encoded-folder%?sort=n"><span class=column>Filename</span></a>
<th><a href="%encoded-folder%?sort=s"><span class=column>Filesize</span></a>
<th><a href="%encoded-folder%?sort=t"><span class=column>Filetime</span></a>
</tr>

That might solve the problem for you.  They can click on the header to change the sort method.  Might work - untested as I don't use those headers.

Noop. I special give a link to my server. I use comments as the main part of the server. As it uses sometimes russian it's not matter I think thought there the most text in English: http://darkfate.iskratelecom.ru:81/FILEARCHIVE/FAN-MISSIONs/Metal_Age/ Just scrool down/ It' the biggest folder of my server. Which contens many sort of comment about 4 gigs of information screens. files and video. Try to find there something, if imagine that you a Thief gamer or simply HalfLife gamer and whant to find a one mission. It's realy very hard I suppose. Under the latest date you can see the old missons, thought ther update the 1/3 of them that have a date stamp of it's creation. NObody knew that the contens changed.. I save filesysem every time a changed it. It;s about 30-40 times a day. So all virtual folders update the latest day. For what? I really can't understand it. Os someone looks at that big folder with the same time dates can use this filed or some kind of sort. It's uselessl!!!!

I need some more filelds names foe example. comment1 comment2 comment3 for ONE folder, file, link.
In practice it meen:
Name=Name of an album
Date=Date of album RELEASED (now it's only last date of changing, I have about 20000 files on server so I can't simply delete parent folders with any comments in it and make another - it takes a lot of time to make it!!!)
Comment =Description of music album
Hits=Number of downloads
I need more
Comment1 (autor)=I think that there're no question why I want to add an autor. Now I'm using a text in comment to confirm about autor and copytirghts, but music it's example I have about 300 folders with floders anf files in one and I think it's realy problem to find there the file under the specific autor, anf if it will be comment1 (customizible) than search will be wery common. Just sort by autor!!)
Comment2 =Size of contents ( for folder of course and it's contens)
Comment3 =It's a filed I want to use foe some type of recomendation with system of marks for example the best fan-mission (music, album) I give a 100, and the worst 1, so-so 25, etc. Of course if someone see the same feelings as I he would sorted under this specific mark to download.

That's all. Uph-ph. I needed learn English more at school...
Thanks for answers :!:

Sorry, but I can't help you.  Maybe rejetto will see this thread and will be able to answer your questions.  I don't think what you are asking is supported in the current version of HFS.

it is already so.
i tested with 1.6a and 2.0beta24 and after modifiying a file, the timestamp is updated in the browser (refreshing).
could you have some cache problem?

i'm not sure i got what you mean with multi-comments.
