HFS ~ HTTP File Server / HFS 3 0.42.1
« on: March 27, 2023, 02:43:53 AM »
I received a notification that 0.42.1 . On the releases page there are only 2 assets; the source files.

Is this correct; no executables?

I just saw HFS 0.26.7 has just been released . There is no Windows version.

Has the Windows version not changed from 0.26.6?

Cheers
All the best for the new year to everyone.

Thanks for reply.
I will investigate converting a console program to a service.

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / HFS3 on Windows 10
« on: June 06, 2022, 08:59:09 AM »
I am using HFS 3 on Windows 10; it works as expected.

I have a question. HFS is now run from PowerShell. I have the shortcut to start HFS with PowerShell minimised; this works.

Is there a way for the program to automatically minimised to the System Tray?

it will likely be included in next release, in very few days

I just installed version 0.18.0; I can now add some text to the web page

Thanks

BTW As I indicated I am running it on a Windows 10 PC.  To upgrade I just replaced the old version which is in "C:\ProgramData\HFS3" with the new version.

How is the best way to do an upgrade?

you want a custom text that is displayed to your users inside the page?

That would be great if possible.
Thanks

I have used HFS2 for a long while. I am just trying out HFS3.  I just downloaded latest release 0.16  hfs.exe and running it on a Windows 10 PC.

I make some comments.

The  version of the software running is only available on the local page at Monitor. An "About" menu item might be helpful. By the way on the Monitor page the version is reported as "Version: 0.15.0
Build: 05/04/2022, 20:43:40" not 0.16?
The version of the software running is not available on the File Server page, even in the admin panel. It would be useful to have this.

I would like the option to have a computer/site name on the File Server page

Thanks

(Would it be useful to have a Forum folder dedicated to HFS3?)

Actually 2 computers were at rc07. Your diff template worked.
I upgraded the other computer to rc07 and added the Diff Template.

All 3 computers now showing the server name.

Thanks

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Server name
« on: March 08, 2022, 10:48:11 PM »
I am running HTTP File Server on three different computers. They all are running 2.4rc2 with no additions or changes.

I would like to have a server/computer identification on the web page. I have looked for a configuration item to identify the server/computer but cannot find it.

Is there an option to put in a server name or how can I do this within the program?

Thanks
Chris

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Re: "username not found"
« on: May 11, 2021, 06:20:24 AM »
I reset the file system and users etc and added the folders again and then set the user/password for each folder; no success.

I then reset the users on each folder and then went to "properties", "manage accounts" Added account ans then gave the privileges.  On the next folder I again went to "Properties" and added the exiting account to the folder.

Now all works; I needed to set up an account!!

Thanks for the guidance

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / "username not found"
« on: May 11, 2021, 12:47:48 AM »
I installed HFS2.4 RC06 on a new computer. I thought I have set it up as my other servers, but I get a problem. I have added real folders and set username/passwords to each folder.

When I try to access a folder  I am asked for the username and password. I enter the details and gat the message "username not found". I tried RC07 with the same result!

What have I done wrong???

Beta / Re: version 2.4
« on: June 05, 2020, 02:22:33 AM »
I have loaded beta 9 and I found Windows 10 Defender said it had a virus and took it off my system. I have seen this on earlier versions.

Is here anything I can do to stop hfs being quarantined?

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Re: Access problems
« on: June 22, 2019, 12:20:21 PM »
I found the problem; it was the ports on the Windows Firewall.
But the real problem was when I upgraded to the latest beta. I had the beta saved as hfs24b6.exe. I executed the program . Everything was working but the firewall  was for the old version. It seems that I should have replaced the old version with the new one; not executed the new version elsewhere!

Thanks to everyone for their assistance.

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Access problems
« on: June 19, 2019, 10:46:43 AM »
I have 2 HFS servers on my home network. One HFS server is on my main PC. and one is setup on a backup PC.

The HFS on the backup PC is accessible from any internal computer , phone or any other browser, internal or external (via suitable port forwarding).

The HFS server on my main PC is ONLY accessible from a browser on this PC. I cannot access the HFS server from any other browser within or outside my home network. I have the appropriate port forwarding in place). I have the option "accept connections on any address".

Is this a problem with my HFS setup or something I have done with my computer?
