Title: template installation
Post by: TSG on May 02, 2009, 01:32:23 PM
I have started a fresh HFS after tidying up my messy HFS directory.

I have noticed you telling people that they do not need the template folder to be beside their HFS for it to be imported when installing a template. But its not working for me, I change my template file to the template I am working on in a different folder (trying a new way to increase productivity), and it doesn't work. HFS doesn't even use that template file. It stays with default. Unless I do it the old school way. It also feels as if HFS is stuck in a loop.

This is the code I am using still:
Code: [Select]
[special:import]
{.add folder|real|template.}
{.set item|/template|hide.}
{.set item|/template|no log.}
{.dialog|Thank you for installing the template!.}

i started a clean #237, and tried both drag&dropping and choosing the template file.
exe and tpl were kept in different folders. tpl is rawr 0.1.1
both methods worked for me.

since you say HFS doesn't even use the new template, you are doing something wrong, or you found a way to reproduce a bug, but "change my template file" is something i just tested.

in case, i can watch you doing it, so to understand more.

ok HFS is in:

C:\Documents and Settings\Me\My Documents\RAWR-Designs.com\HFS\hfs.exe

the template I want is in:

C:\Documents and Settings\Me\My Documents\RAWR-Designs.com\ToG\thunderchicken_of_glory-4.0.2.tpl

and the 'template' folder is beside the template file.

when I go to Menu > HTML Template > Change File... and select the template. Nothing happens... I do not know why. HFS just seems to sit there doing nothing. I'm using 237 now, but I have noticed it for a few builds, however never remembered to post about it cause my old VFS was manually set.

Get HFS.exe next to the template folder (yes the template folder that should be in the HFS afterwards), plus verify that there is no template folder in the HFS tree before you load the template *.tpl file, it works for me.

The point of this thread is to get the template folder and template auto-importing from any location on the computer. No matter the location of the .tpl, if the template folder is beside the template, and the location given in the special:import is correct for this folder, or anything for that matter, it should automatically import to HFS. That fix defeats the purpose, that's how it used to work.

The location given by {.add folder|real|meh.} should be relative to the .tpl location without the '/' if I am correct.

1. what if you test it on rawr 0.1.1 ?
2. what if you first "temporarily reset options" and then try to install the template?

Tried a combination of both those with identical results...

I am testing with Windows XP Pro SP3, ESET Smart Security is installed, but I doubt it would effect it. I will try on my laptop later. I am building a new computer on Monday, this computer has seen better days. But I don't think its the blame for the problem.

i managed to fix it by deleting everything but HFS, and starting again, but its getting frustrating having to do this every couple of weeks... sometimes when I install a template, HFS will install the template like 20 minutes later... its as if HFS hangs...
