HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Time to say goodbye
« on: August 24, 2020, 08:11:23 PM »
I have used HFS over a number of years and it's served me well, allowing myself and family to download home movies etc.
Now the time has come to say thank you and goodbye.  :'(
Why you ask. In one word, JELLYFIN  8)
It's a media solution that floats my boat.
I won't attempt to explain, I'll leave it to...

I may come back for HFS, who knows. TWT.
Ciao  :-*

I just use Google RDT for remote access to my Win10 server. It normally sleeps so I use MagicPacket from the Microsoft store to Wake up on Wan, then access with https://remotedesktop.google.com/. Easy Peasy

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Update and Self Test not working
« on: June 22, 2019, 12:31:22 AM »
Not sure what's going on. Manual and Auto Update search says Network Error, Request failed. This has been working perfectly since 2.3m came out. Might be coincidental with latest Win10 update. Firewall and router checked. External access to Server function works. What port does Update search use? Also Self Test says test is unavailable at the moment.
cheers

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Re: New version: 2.3
« on: April 28, 2014, 10:54:10 PM »
Running HFS on Windows 8.1.
When HFS starts, it does not load the default HFS.VFS file.
I have to manually load it. HFS will then show and use the saved file system, but accounts are not loaded either. I have to manually enable them through the properties function.
Ideas please.

it's not "account restriction" but "access restriction".
indeed, until you use that option, the access is not restricted but free to anyone.
i understand your confusion, but would also like to not lose part of the meaning with the change.

i would like to know what others think about the account button suggestion.

Fair enough, but the word Permission is a widely used term for accounts. Permissions could show...

(Tick)  Open to Anyone
or
(Tick) Name
or
(Cross) Name

I also would have thought, having set the global account permissions that are inherited, that the account names should reflect this when looking at each virtual folder permissions. If you look, you will no ticks set against account names. Surely the account permissions should cascade and be shown?

I find that the Account creation facility is the most widely in HFS, and easy access via the menu bar would make it so easy. As an example, see Filezilla Server, which I am certain the majority of forum correspondants are aware of.

Either way, thanks for taking the time to look at the suggestions from myself and others.

regards,

Hello Rejetto.
Any chance of having the options to place the Account creation/maintenance Icon and others on the menu bar, where the Menu, Port Icons are?
Also just a passing thought, and based on my preference, the menu selection "account restrictions" causes me confusion. Could not the title be changed to "account permissions", that way, the word permission is more allied to the ticks. The word "restrictions" tends to clash with the ticks, if you see what I am getting at.

Further information...
My friend has just uploaded a file. Looking in the upload folder, as the file was uploading, there was nothing, no file with increasing size.
When the upload finished, there was no file.

Aha :-)  Now my remote user has changed to an ENGLISH filename, I can see the file being uploaded in the Upload folder.
Time will tell :-) :-)
regards, a happier person.
