Title: Wiki translation how-to
Post by: rejetto on September 29, 2007, 02:38:57 PM
I could translate the wiki pages to spanish.

it would be great for all spanish people

Quote
What is the most advanced wiki (english or italian) to translate from?

the english one

Quote
¿How can I do it?
must I use the wiki editor or may I save the html source of the pages, translate the text and upload anywhere?

well, the best way i can think is:
1. click on the english page you want to translate
2. click edit
3. go at the bottom
4. COPY the source text
5. click on the address bar of your browser, it contains the title
6. translate the title** and press ENTER
7. PASTE the source text in the large area
8. translate the text
9. click save

**For the title "HFS Documentation (Englih)", translate as "HFS Documentation (Español)"
Title: Re: Wiki translation how-to - upload problem
Post by: bacter on September 30, 2007, 12:42:01 PM
After translating the whole page "first time configuration" I wasn't able to save the page because of an active spam-filter on the server who rejected some link to external site. Finally - for stupid :-[ , by trying to change references and linking from the preview, I lost the whole page without saving my typed text in an external file until I knew the solution to the upload problem.

As I've learned now nearly all the sintax of the wiki, I will do from now on the translation in notepad++ and paste the whole page when finished!

But I don't know if I made a mistake in any href.. or the spam-filter does not allow the upload with hrefs to external sites.

Thank your for your information

Why do you need links to external sites? rejetto.com is the only site with information regarding hfs.

in the english version there are two references to pages to check out your externel IP.
If that is the problem, y will omit them as references and people may google with the name of the site.

I dont think they should be a problem I was just curious what you could be linking too because hfs doesnt have any external sources.
I'll create a Documentación de HFS (española) section for you to add the spanish translated version to because I noticed you are playing around in the english section ;)

Edit: I just tried to edit the main section to add the spanish section and I had to brake the ask the hfs oracle link to save it, It appears that the spam filter is blocking "http://"

By accident after translating the index of the tutorials I saved it in the english wiki.

I translated back to restablish, but I didn't hit the right name of the little section about using HFS as a webserver. So I beg your pardon and ask you to correct that item.

Please add in the main index also a section "* [[HFS Documentación(Español)]]"

Thanks

hello Foggy

I suggest you to  change the entry in the main index for coherence with other languages to "* [[HFS Documentación (Español)]]".

P.S.: and because I've started that way)  :)

Thank you

Title: Add partial screen shoots
Post by: bacter on September 30, 2007, 03:34:57 PM
Hello Foggy

In some sections I would like to include some partial screen-shoots (till now I'm thinking especially en the Menu sections).
As menu sometimes changes, viewing the screenshot and comparing to the actual, it would be easer to detect what section is new, and so proceed to update the wiki.

I don't know if I can upload somwhere this images I want to use (and aren't already in the english section), and if it is possible to view a folder anywhere with the images already existing.

If the possibility to view and upload exists, there is no need of help. If it does not exist, tell me where I can send the images an you return me the names of the files that I can use.

Let me know

thanks

don't worry. there is a "rollback" link that let us restore any previous version of the page. you don't need to retype the old content yourself.
i always monitor the wiki and fix every problem.

the upload feature was disabled by accident.
it is ON now, click on the "upload file" link.

Hello rejetto

thanks for the image upload feature.

Could you make visible in a page  the images (partial screenshoots) with their names that are already uploaded, so different people that works on wikis would not need to upload perhaps more than 5 times the same image?

the same image can be shared by many pages, in many languages.

That's the only thing i got similar to your request
