no download
« on: November 17, 2013, 06:41:56 PM »
It not a high priority, and i may have just as easily misread/past it in forums and post.

BUT,

I would like to see another tab int the %folder% > Properties> permissions (access / delete / upload)

that would say download, so you can give the world a view of what is in the folder, but no access to download file with in it...

I see in the %folder% > Properties> Flags that there is "no download option" which may or may not allow this to happen as to my understanding that this will prevent traffic...

So i write to this forum to ask any ideas or opinions on this matter.

My objective to have a file in HFS be view able to the world, but not be able to be download until you login with an account.

(yes, i can restrict access to an account to have them only view and download, but i would like the world to still see what is there...)

Thank you for your time and patience as this will be my first post on this forum :D

you have to add the folder twice,
one with "no download"
the other restricted to users.

If you use the "list protected items only for allowed user" they will see just one folder.

ive set up a scenario on my version of hfs:
http://bmartino1.dyndns.org/testing/

(for the account that will need access...
username: test
passsword: test

okay, i might be not understanding what you are trying to tell me...

as i (believe ) that i have done what you have posted, but the hfs login still takes over the folder...
upon adding the same folder hfs renames it, i rename it to the same name (see setup.png)

Issues, when traversing to the folder, the text document should be seen, but no access to download or read it, until log in
traversing to the path brings the login... eventually to hfs restricted access page... (see issue.png)

--------------------------------

i will try a new idae next, because i have them both under the same name...
using html and iframes two 2 different paths...
-------------

Thank you for your help and support

upon doing my idea, the folder permission to access the folder take over as the no download will not allow the traffic. shown a iframe source of access denied.
