<snip>!!!!

Anyone knows where those came from? Rejetto? :D In case anyone wondering if there's any third part program that might be causing this, I was using KIS 2009. Shouldn't be from that though.

I can answer this easily..... the problem has to do with that series of AMD CPU. the same errors manifested "at least once" for me on my old CPU which is a 1700+... I have since installed an AMD X2 64 (Phenom) and there have been no more errors of that type.... at least not for me.

[btw... HI TSG!!!! nice to see you are still among us  ;D]

so far no bugs noticed on my end... and I have a brand new system upgrade.. with yet another custom hardware configuration..

I can tell you however that comodo internet security says build #220 is safe.... in fact they have a file submission tool and I submitted hfs.exe for analysis... the software now recognizes even updated copies... and the way this works.. if there is the slightest "dangerous" change.. it will lock my system down.

and other than telling me that a "server" program (hfs.exe) wants to connect.. or to update the firewall rule... CIS doesn't set off any alarms with HFS

Huh? Do you mean the settings? I never need to load the settings manually, they always autoload for me, everytime.

Are you using Vista (UAC)?

"after" a system crash. the settings seem to reset themselves to default... I have always had that problem .. but its more noticeable with build 218. It seems as tho its saving the settings to registry instead of to a file even tho I told it to save to file.

what would be really useful is being able to store those settings to a "user chosen" location.... right now they get stored to a default location which is the HFS directory... its better to be able to save a backup copy in a specific location or to make it save settings as part of the VFS file rather than a separate INI file.

that way when I restore I only have to load "one" file. ... that file would remember the template etc...

BUG!!!!!! AHOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! seems the block spiders option is NOT working.. googlebots.com has been querying my port 443 all day and has been getting results!

this isnt supposed to happen! and yes I have the site passworded etc... using tog 3.0 with login page... is it possible to modify that option to auto-generate a robots.txt file?

[hmmm nope.. just noticed.. build 218 isnt always saving the options.. half the time it does.. half the time it doesnt. the template page keeps reverting back to the default.]

*****
hmmmmmmmmm???

how about an option to not only save options to a file but to load them as welll.. just live the vfs file.. that way if we ahve a system crash we dont ahve to reload all the settings manually... otherwise just save al teh options to the vfs as well.

when in the Properties window ... the MANAGE USER ACCOUNTS button remains static when resizing the window.

fixed in next build

Quote
also.. every now and then the Properties tab gets overlayed by the 2nd tab and I have to click on a tab other than those two and then back on Properties to view the tab properly. I thought this was just a fluke at first but I have noticed it since build 215.

it's not clear to me. can you post a screen shot?

[ok... this was a video driver glitch.. not an HFS bug.. I hadnt at the time of posting been informed of the driver update]

Quote
also as a side note.. would like to suggest that on video.. and now I have found the anonymous access issue applies to mp3 files as well.... that the "ANONYMOUS" access flag ONLY applies to checked accounts on the properties page... also include that option per account in user management...

how can anonymous apply to accounts? i don't understand

[ok... the issue with setting a folder with video for private/restricted user access, is that it also prevents the DivX web player or any default media player with its own streaming function from accessing the folder... those do "anonymous" logins and the restricted access on a folder prevents that from happening]

Quote
as far as I can tell the anonymous flag applies across the board rather than just the approved accounts.. this is not secure.

anonymous is to give access to non-account visitors.

[cerberus ftp server has an option that allows an "authenticated" account to make anonymous logins so that the account user doesnt keep getting prompted to login behind the SSL layer... this appears to be the issue I am seeing when I use the restricted folder without setting it for anonymous... the FTP server does it based on the IP of the "logged in" account... as an exception rule as far as I can tell.]

you had this issue before in an older version... then it went away and now its back again.... something you changed in the code and how it translates the requests is preventing the players from resolving the HTTP/S restricted links correctly

you will have to test/remove one at a time. starting with the most recent program... its an annoying process.. but it usually works

For those who would have no compiler

The hfs.exe in zip archive

What's in your HFS that isn't in rejetto's official HFS build?

It's just my opinion but if there are 2 different versions of the same build I think it would be better to start a new thread for the unofficial builds describing the changes you made.

thats a very good idea

is there anything you installed after the point it was still working?

the port issue... is the domain provider set for port 88 for the URL redirect? that's not a standard port .. so you have to tell it to use that port ... once its set.. you dont need to include the port number... the other part is allowing the port in the router.. both port forwarding and in the router firewall.. if you have that type of setup

the RAM issue... looks like one of your other programs is trying to hook into HFS ... and its not compatible.

and yes.. from my experience the 28M is a bit high for HFS... even with streaming video I never go much over 10M usage

that explains why I couldn't duplicate the RAM bug.. I am using the Comodo Internet Security package... its designed to block bad code.. etc

and the best part.. the standard package is still free.... the only dif between standard and Pro is the tech support

ok.. so far so good... I havent noticed anything odd with 217...

tho as a suggestion.... testers should run a registry cleaner after updating or introducing new script commands..

www.comodo.com has a good one that doesnt require rebooting... and its free.. its listed under the free tools and downloads link near the bottom of the list.

I havent been able to recreate the RAM issue.... but I have been doing periodic resource checks.. and HFS #216 hovers between 3,000K and 10,000K.

that usage is nothing compared to MS Word or Photoshop etc

no login issues

the only oddities for me so far have been the restricted access video folder issue which was resolved by checking ANONYMOUS which allows the streaming player to login to that folder, and the issue with renaming things.

*****

ok.. odd the renaming issue only seems to affect "me" when someone is logged into the server????

hi ender.
does this problem happened with 215 too, or only 216 ?

I dont have any problems with this... as of now. my RAM usage for HFS is 5.480K .. this is very tiny compared to what I normally run.
