hiya siy11.

i just tried it too, failed as before, although winamp takes the address fine so it must be the workings of the PSP.

as for the editing of the rss feed, i would of put my rss feed link on a passworded page so only myself could access the link....but nevermind hey lol.

must dash.  may have time later to try a few things..

router & port problems / address wrong

hi  digest,

the link to your site specifies your internal lan address  . it needs to specify
your external IP address.

HFS can find you this, goto to menu, then select IP address, then select FIND EXTERNAL ADDRESS.

send me a new link and i could try it

just read this on a site

4.7.3 Gathering from password-protected servers
You can gather password-protected documents from HTTP and FTP servers. In both cases, you can specify a username and password as a part of the URL. The format is as follows:

         ftp://user:password@host:port/url-path
        http://user:password@host:port/url-path

With this format, the ``user:password'' part is kept as a part of the URL string all throughout Harvest. This may enable anyone who uses your Broker(s) to access password-protected documents.

sounds like it could be possible. ill try at home tonight via my wireless lan and let you know anything i find!!!!

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / protected music folder
« on: December 21, 2005, 01:19:48 PM »
hi rejetto,

the problem with that is that when you access the rss feed file you end up accessing a mp3 file in the protected music folder so HFS correctly requires a password for that too, so using a PSP fails on the feed.

One thing i have just thought of is that from my work pc i have accessed the passworded mp3s using winamp and it streamed them nicely enough.
i am wondering if a url like this

       http://user:pass:86.123.145.56:port/music/name.mp3

might be a viable address that can be put in the rss feed file. then if the rss link is on a passworded web page, only the owner can access it.

i can't test that today as i havnt left my pc on at home (in at work now).
ill try tommorrow if i remember.lol... and let you know what i find.

         cheers silky
