alternatively truncate string
.item-link { overflow: hidden; text-overflow: ellipsis }

didn't test it, but i don't like the idea of truncating the file names. What when you have a difference at the end of them (a common case): you cannot tell the difference anymore.

Also, I've found that "break-all" could work better that "break-word".

i tried both when making the decision. Break-all diminishes readability of file names, with bad and unnecessary breaking.

Bug reports / Re: HFS not able to start.
« on: March 17, 2019, 07:13:38 PM »
ok, thanks a lot, i've been able to reproduce the problem.
Anyway i didn't find a real solution, except from ignoring the error coming from the translation library.
This will at least allow people to run HFS.
The error is deliberate, because the library is not supporting this codepage, or at least not this version of the library.
Maybe people can decide to uncheck this Windows' setting to workaround the problem?

HTML & templates / Re: Chat for HFS.

rojetto, I enabled CORS in browser, so this is not cross-domain problem.

i don't know what "enabled cors in browser" actually means, but i was not saying that cors was disallowed by the browser. It's HFS not supporting it.
CORS requests happen to generate an extra "OPTIONS" request, and that is not supported by HFS, returning a 405 error, indeed.
HFS accepts only GET/HEAD/POST requests.

Bug reports / Re: ERR_RESPONSE_HEADERS_MULTIPLE_CONTENT_LENGTH
« on: March 17, 2019, 05:49:10 PM »
in 2.3m i added the "Content-Length" in error pages because it was missing.
The error says you are getting multiple, but i just checked and HFS is sending one, and it is working for everybody, so the problem must be something specific on your system.
Possibly something is adding another content-length, and this was fine to Chrome with old versions, because before HFS was sending none.
Now that HFS is sending it, adding another is causing the problem.
You must find what is adding the Content-Length. It could be a plugin of the browser, an {.add header.} command somewhere in your template/events, or another server/proxy if you are not connecting directly.
I invite you to try to use HFS directly (no other servers) and with configuration reset (Menu > debug > temporarily reset options), and let us know what happens with this.

i'm sorry but you were clearly attacked because of some bug.
I read from another topic that you are using 2.3a, and that explains all.
Sadly, in the world of server software you cannot stay behind updates and be exposed on the internet. You could only if you stayed in a closed and safe environment, or you make a detailed research and find that no update you are missing contains critical fixes.

welcome back SP! I'm so glad to know you are well now, forum or not :)
and also welcome Mary

welcome!
it's not truly necessary, and you may save options to file instead of registry.
Instead, to give the missing rights he's talking about, you should right click on HFS.exe and click "run as administrator".

sometimes you get files with long name and no dash/spaces, and it looks bad especially on mobile with little horizontal space, causing horizontal scrolling.
I want to add this css rule for final 2.4
.item-link { word-break: break-word; }

Please give me some feedback

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Re: Template Look Broken Some Of The Time
« on: February 14, 2019, 12:25:02 PM »
it doesn't break.
It's there for additional security/control.
It's a "harder" limit, not what you want.
I understand it can be confusing, that's why i introduced a warning in the dialog. Take a second look at it.

You should remove the limit on connections and set a limit on "download" instead
