Title: Live 3 With Delete, Rename, New Folder, and Change User Pass
Post by: Sapphirescales on July 22, 2009, 01:32:41 AM
I was going to wait till I added some more features before I released this, but I have some other things to do right now and I can't mess with this again for awhile.  This is my customized version of the Live 3 template.  It includes the ability to delete files/folders, rename files/folders, create new folders, and allows members to change their passwords.  Here is a snapshot and download link:

(http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa146/tlordame/second%20album/mylivesnapshot_small.jpg) (http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa146/tlordame/second%20album/mylivesnapshot_big.jpg)

Instructions:
1.  Download the original Live3 Template from www.rawr-designs.com

2.  Add the contents of the folder entitled "New Contents" to the template folder
    that was included with the original template downloaded from rawr-designs.

3.  Install the template named "NewLive3.tpl".

4.  Go into your custom .css folder (i.e. live_black.css) and edit the #header_logo span
    element like this:

   #header_logo span {
   margin:15px;
   width:330px;
   height:25px;
   float:right;
   }

4.  The custom LBT Server logo and custom background image can be found in the
    "images_added" folder.  You can add them to your server template if desired
    by linking to the images via the custom .css file for each original
    template (i.e. live_black.css).

AWK!  I swear to god I had it in that archive.  But ah well.  You know what it's like when you're coding.  Stuff gets a little f***** up sometimes. :D  Anyway, link fixed.  The two needed files (style.css and cssHoverFix.htc) are included in the archive.

TSG notified me that I should just have the needed files in the archive, NOT the whole template.  The included files are:

*The .tpl website code
*The CSS file and HTC file needed to make the member tools work
*The extra buttons I made

The buttons are hosted on my photobucket, but I included them just in case.  In order to get this template to work, you must first download the full template from www.rawr-designs.com (http://www.rawr-designs.com)

You haven't properly linked to the .CSS and .HTC file.  Besides....I told you it might not work with any theme except for Live Black.  I personally tried linking everything through the file system, but I eventually had to go through my server's domain name.  If you want you can upload the CSS and HTC file to upload.com or another service.  Just make sure to upload the HTC file first and redirect it's location in the CSS file before uploading the CSS file.

I must have done something wrong.  ;D

(http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/466/242livemod.jpg)
1) Put the file "styles.css" INSIDE folder "template",
2) Put the file "cssHoverFix.htc" INSIDE the folder "templates",
3) Open the file "styles.css" with notepad and change ---> "body {behavior:url(/template/cssHoverFix.htc);}" with ---> "body {behavior:url(/template/cssHoverFix.htc);}",
4) Create a folder named "images_added", add NEW images and place it INSIDE the folder "template",
5) Add the files ORIGINAL "Live-3.0.0",
6) Install the template.

NB: Remember that if you write in the template "http://%ip%/" RETURN your ip, there is no need to write the REAL ip.
I proceeded to do all the replacements included in the zip file, there is no need to do.
NB: I have the correct template to work with any theme. ;)

5) Aggiungi i files ORIGINALI "Live-3.0.0",

FRENCH CAN CAN

Thank you for correcting the template, however you needed to keep the location of the tools and search further away from the right side of the screen.  The way you have it, when the drop down menu comes up the user has to scroll over to the right in order to see the menu items.  I have included instructions and upped a new version:

http://uploading.com/files/ERRM6XWP/Live3+Delete+Rename+CreateNewFolder+ChangeUserPassword.zip.html (http://uploading.com/files/ERRM6XWP/Live3+Delete+Rename+CreateNewFolder+ChangeUserPassword.zip.html)

New Instructions!!!
1.  Download the original Live3 Template from www.rawr-designs.com

2.  Add the contents of the folder entitled "New Contents" to the template folder
    that was included with the original template downloaded from rawr-designs.

3.  Install the template named "NewLive3.tpl".

4.  Go into your custom .css folder (i.e. live_black.css) and edit the #header_logo span
    element like this:

   #header_logo span {
   margin:15px;
   width:330px;
   height:25px;
   float:right;
   }

4.  The custom LBT Server logo and custom background image can be found in the
    "images_added" folder.  You can add them to your server template if desired
    by linking to the images via the custom .css file for each original
    template (i.e. live_black.css).

Ok, finally i've set it up and everything seems to work.   ;D

Now i need an [on item renamed] event because any of my files has its "preview" file, that must be automatically renamed, too.

I noticed a strange behavior not only with this template, but also with rawr and others.

Using Firefox, every time i reload a page, some graphical elements disappear, then reappear at the next reload, and so on. It is very bad experience.  :-\ Has anyone an explanation for this?

BTW, i only tested with Firefox, so i don't know if this problem affects other browsers.  ;)

Well, i must say that the delete solution implemented by French Can Can for rawr template (checkboxes+button) was better than this one, for me. You could check multiple files and delete all them quick and easy. FCC, do you think it is possible to ingrate it in this new template?  :)

Possible?  Yes.  But it'd look like crap.  Just wait.  TSG is working on a new hover and multi selection element that will be much better than check boxes.  I myself may work on individual delete and rename buttons.  I thought of adding them directly under each file/folder name.  Just click the button under the file/folder name and the file/folder would be deleted.  But I have no idea how to implement it.  To be honest I don't have the time to mess with it right now.

I don't mean to be rude, but like I said it would it looks horrible.  Perhaps if you put the checkboxes where the file descriptions are right under the file names and moved the "delete selected" and "archive selected" buttons to the top bar?

I made the change, download the template, however if you want you can adapt it to your liking, change the values to be about:

<body>

<input style="position:relative; margin-left:50px; margin-top:13px;" type='checkbox'

[folder]

<input style="position:relative; margin-left:50px; top:10px; bottom:0px;" type=checkbox value="%item-url%" name='selection'>

[file]

<input style="position:relative; margin-left:50px; top:10px; bottom:0px;" type=checkbox value="%item-url%" name='selection'>

It sounds good, but what if you have to delete multiple files? I know checkboxes + buttons are not the best in terms of beauty, but they do the job  ;D

I however thank again you and French Can Can for your programming, i'm not a programmer so can i only modify the code written by other to suit my needs  ;D

Now i'm gonna try the latest release by FCC  :P

I'll try to work on FRENCH CAN CAN's code to make it look better, but like everything else of his I've downloaded it's not coded properly.  There are lots of errors.  You can't even move the checkboxes.  I don't know what's wrong. ???

Yeah.  It looks horrible.  I'm working on it right now as we speak.  I have it looking GREAT, but it doesn't work. :P  It figures.  FRENCH CAN CAN can make it work, but it looks horrible and I can make it look wonderful but it doesn't work! :-[

EDIT:  I don't understand.  No matter how I edit FRENCH CAN CAN's template, NOTHING HAPPENS!!!  I even deleted all the checkboxes in the template and they're all still there! >:( I'm getting pissed off.

It doesn't do anything when you press the delete button.  I've got the checkboxes and everything looking mighty fine, but they just don't function.

If you create a folder and you want to delete immediately from checkboxes not good, maybe a macro goes in the conflict, go back and you can delete, you should see for what reason but it certainly depends on how you created your macro. ???

On RAWR I have given the same macro model (live) and it works. 8)

I've got everything working now and I've styled the checkboxes to better fit the Live 3 Black template.  Unfortunately I'm linking to about 5 more files including new .css style sheets and .js files.  It's just becoming too complicated to release without releasing the whole thing.  The delete button in my old template looks the same but now pressing it will delete all selected items.  I've also changed the "change password" hover element into just a button as well.  Here's a snapshot of how it's going so far:

(http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa146/tlordame/second%20album/portion.jpg)

I'm trying to move the check box up a bit, but it's not going too well so far.  I'm going to try to edit some of the Javascript elements and see if that does anything............

Title: Re: Live 3 With Delete, Rename, New Folder, and Change User Pass
Post by: Sapphirescales on July 28, 2009, 04:58:30 PM
It looks horrible when the checkboxes look like standard elements that have just been stuck in the middle of a perfectly flowing template and disrupt it's beauty.  They still look pretty bad but at least they're not so.....obvious.  I'll probably darken them a bit more to conform to the theme and I've got to move the checkboxes up.  They look like they were just tacked onto the bottom side of every file and folder and they look horrible.  They look hella good when right next to the item size attribute, but I can't seem to get them into position. :-[
Title: Re: Live 3 With Delete, Rename, New Folder, and Change User Pass
Post by: Sapphirescales on July 29, 2009, 08:32:44 AM
I've got almost everything perfect except for the fact that the checkboxes won't resize in Firefox.  They work in ALL other browsers.  I think it's because Firefox has a larger cellpadding than the other browsers, but I have no idea how to get around that.  It looks great in all browsers except for Firefox.  In firefox it looks like crap. :'(

Then there's also the issue of release.  I can either upload the whole thing which is against the rules or I can write a 20 page essay explaining how to apply this template properly. :(  There are so many external files my head is spinning.

I should point out that this is NOT my template.  I AM just editing an existing one!  Doesn't change the fact that the original has basically NO features at all and everything needs to be added for it to be more than a glorified aesthetically pleasing file browser. :P

EDIT:
Oh, and I've got some good news and some bad.  Good news is I've got everything internally linked.  Bad news is the checkbox size problem still exists.  I can change the checkbox to a picture but when I do I can't move it.  I can shrink it and change it's color, but it isn't affected in Firefox.  This is totally sucking.  It looks GREAT in every browser except for Firefox.  I don't want to accept that as the final solution, but I don't see much of a choice.  Any ideas?

This is quite strange. I mean...during my experience with HFS i tried several templates (terayon, rawr, live3) and tested all them with IE, Firefox and Opera and i never noticed any difference in displaying the pages...The only difference is that Opera handles BIG file transfers much more better than the other two.

With the way I currently have it set up, you MUST have the delete permission to use any of the tools (or to view them).  Being a member is not enough.  My new version fixes this.  I'll release my new version soon if I can't find a solution to the checkbox styling.

And the search bar and buttons are supposed to be where they are.  If they're against the right side of the screen you have to scroll over to see the member tools when you hover over them.  It's quite a pain in the a$$.  That's why I changed the value.

It's not that simple FRENCH CAN CAN.  To my knowledge, Firefox doesn't allow styling of checkboxes.  I think I've hit a snag that can't be solved until CSS3 is fully supported. :'(

lol, I could have told you that ages ago, if we could style checkboxes it would have been implemented long ago. But it requires more complex javascript methods that do not use checkboxes. At the moment I am having a small break while I move house, hopefully Richard will have the new preview box sorted soon and rejetto can sort out the authentication error with third party uploaders... THEN I will look into a nice implementation of these features. Good things take time. My to-do for RAWR-Designs isn't very long after the last couple of weeks work, but the features in the list are each complex and will take time. Nothing is as easy as it seems.

Yeah I've done Javascript checkbox/image replacement, but I can't get the checkbox image to attach to the upper left corner of the REAL checkbox instead of the lower right.  That causes placement of the checkbox image to be incorrect.

Yeah, I know.  Doesn't it just piss you off when people keep nagging you for features? :D  Everything that involves computers is just a pain in the a$$, but that's why I like it.  I like to be challenged.  Though shit like checkbox styling just pisses me off.  Although I enjoy a challenge, I wouldn't mind some things being less of a pain in the a$$. :P

how does the user register then it just takes u too google

any ideas rob

I was going to wait till I added some more features before I released this, but I have some other things to do right now and I can't mess with this again for awhile.  This is my customized version of the Live 3 template.  It includes the ability to delete files/folders, rename files/folders, create new folders, and allows members to change their passwords.  Here is a snapshot and download link:

(http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa146/tlordame/second%20album/mylivesnapshot_small.jpg) (http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa146/tlordame/second%20album/mylivesnapshot_big.jpg)

Instructions:
1.  Download the original Live3 Template from www.rawr-designs.com

2.  Add the contents of the folder entitled "New Contents" to the template folder
    that was included with the original template downloaded from rawr-designs.

3.  Install the template named "NewLive3.tpl".

4.  Go into your custom .css folder (i.e. live_black.css) and edit the #header_logo span
    element like this:

   #header_logo span {
   margin:15px;
   width:330px;
   height:25px;
   float:right;
   }

4.  The custom LBT Server logo and custom background image can be found in the
    "images_added" folder.  You can add them to your server template if desired
    by linking to the images via the custom .css file for each original
    template (i.e. live_black.css).

There's no way to register remotely.  I tried and tried to get this working, but then found out that it was impossible due to limitations with HFS.  If I was screwing around with that feature, by default I always have non-working links go to Google.

There's a new version of this coming out soon.  In the new version, the member tools slide down from the top of the page and you're able to apply an image background that automatically adjusts size to 100% on ALL browsers AND resolutions!  Just made it today so I don't want to publish it yet (I want to test it first to make sure there aren't any bugs).

Post by: Sapphirescales on November 22, 2009, 09:41:52 PM
I did try at one point, but with the member tools I have, I find it's much easier and better to just assign an admin and give them 100% access to upload/delete/access ALL files and folders on the server.  I mean, the only thing you can't do is remove/ban members remotely and I don't see why you'd need to do that.

But if you really want an admin panel, there's one floating around here.  It's not so great in the looks department, but it works pretty well.  You can always style it of course.

As to the new version, I'm still working on it and it's looking great!  Here's what I've got so far:

Just click the "Member Tools" button and a top menu expands to reveal tools that a member can use such as delete files/folders, rename files/folders, create new folders, and change password:

I should also point out that I've made the background image stretch to the full size of the screen on ALL browsers AND resolutions!  Be warned however that if you're going to do this, use a DVD snapshot with FULL DVD resolution and quality.  If you don't, the image will look blurry on larger displays.

There's now a background behind the file list that's semi-transparent.  This allows you to put a background image on there while still maintaining a respectable level of readability.

Current Control Bar:

Do you have the download for this one?  It looks like it really meets my needs!  Thanks!

I'm still working on it.  The server template only works with IE8 or above.  I've created a warning that will come up if you're using a version of IE that's less than version 8 (with options and links to upgrade), but I can't seem to do something similar for the other browsers.  It only works 100% in Opera 9.0 and above and Firefox 3.0 and above.  Safari only 4.0 or above.  All versions of Google Chrome ironically.  I want to be able to warn people if they're using a browser that's too old to work with the server template so they don't think the website's screwed up.

Since the release of IE8, all the browsers must've made an agreement or something 'cuz if a website works in IE8, it'll work the same way in ALL other newest versions of browsers.  This is great.  We're almost out of the stone age. ;D

I should have everything finalized by Friday.  I'm working on a VERY complicated website at the moment and I just don't have the time for this.  On top of needing to finish this, like always I seem to link everything improperly.  So many resources are linked through my server so I can't release it like it is right now.  If I did, it'd kill my bandwidth with all you guys sucking off my connection. ;D  I just gotta stop linking the resources like this!  It takes me five hours just to make sure everything's re-linked properly!

Well I understand that!  I'm interested in web design too!  I've been learning all the code!  First time I looked at html css and javascript I was like  :o!  Well your is awesome work and take as much time as you need to make that template  ;).  I fix computer problems and build them to get my pay.  I also keep up with my mini itx server at home which always has software probs.  I just got Win 7 intstalled on my main machine mentioned in my signature!  I'm loving it!  You have win 7 it yet?

Sorry for being a little off the forum (I'm barely having free time lately). About what you want, I think the most easy solution is to "clone" (copy and paste) the code of the "Select" or "Sort" buttons (from the Live 3 template), and add the buttons you want, copying only the functions found on the default template. I'm not good editing templates, so, it's not an easy task for me (it could take me a lot of time, which I currently don't have). May be you or someone else here could do this.

TSG, would be faster / better or dj ...

sorry was looking at  the orginal live v3,  different realize this is an old post for a file no longer aviabale... for a modded template version of live...

we will have to add stuff to the orginal template and recode it

I'm just pulling the code form the default template, i have not edited nor added code, and will take me some time to code it up. I have very little time with current occupations :( ....

IN the end,
there will need to be an account setup with access and delete permision

and code copied form the default template to the live template to run the script for the desired actions....

live has diffent names and different script run then the default so we will have to read code and change the arcordingly....
those button will only work on 1 file not multple selected (so the4re will be bad code adn posible bug hangup even if teh template is codced corectly for one file use....

How to start:

first hfs default code and special string added to the special stings section to the live template
Code: [Select]
[+special:strings]
option.paged=1
COMMENT this option causes your file list to be paged by default

option.newfolder=1
option.move=1
option.comment=1
option.rename=1
COMMENT with these you can disable some features of the template. Please note this is not about user permissions, this is global!

next the button to click form the hfs default:
box actions

Code: [Select]
<fieldset id='actions'>
<legend><img src="/~img18"> {.!Actions.}</legend>
<center>
{.if|{.can mkdir.}|
<button id='newfolderBtn' onclick='ezprompt(this.innerHTML, {type:"text"}, function(s){

    });'>{.!New folder.}</button>
.}

                if (a.size() != 1)
return alert("You must select a single item to rename");
ezprompt(this.innerHTML, {type:"text"}, function(s){
ajax("rename", {from:getItemName(a[0]), to:s});
    });'>{.!Rename.}</button>
.}
{.if|{.get|can archive.}|
<button id='archiveBtn' onclick='if (confirm("{.!confirm.}")) submit({}, "{.get|url|mode=archive|recursive.}")'>{.!Archive.}</button>
.}
<a href="{.get|url|tpl=list|sort=|{.if not|{.length|{.?search.}.}|{:folders-filter=\|recursive:}.}.}">{.!Get list.}</a>
</center>
</fieldset>

and script codes that run form action:

!!! Don't just add code form the default to the live tempalte ... You will have to recode certtain areas, this is teh defautl tempalte code and button when cliced action

you will have to find the live template code where the lock icon and delete icon and add a folder and etc function you want form the default.

as you can see hfs looks at
Code: [Select]
info in a  " [ " and  " ] " if live already has a name then in the " [ " and  " ] " then we can add code form the default and thoruw them in there respeted areas...

live breaks parts of it webpage and uses javascrip and ohter to form its web page

there is a blank section of " [ " and  " ] "
that just load the basic html side

then there brackets in live like this code:

Code: [Select]
[folder]
<div class="item folder {.if not|{.or|{.get|can archive.}|{.get|can delete.}.}| off .}"
item-access="{.if|{.get|can access.}| You can access this item! | This item is protected. .}"
item-added="%item-added%"
item-dl-count="%item-dl-count%"
item-comment="{.replace|>| &gt; |<| &lt; |"|&#38;#38;#34;|%item-comment%.}">
<a href="%item-url%" title="Click to Enter">
<img src="/template/{.!theme.}/images/icons/folder.gif" alt=""/>
{.if|{.get|is new.}|<img class="new" src="/template/{.!theme.}/images/new.png" alt=""/>.}
</a>
<div><a href="%item-url%" title="Click to Enter">%item-name%</a><span>%item-added%</span></div>
</div>

this code efect folder and only folders
we will be adding data to this area and files and much more...

(ALOT OF TIRAL AND ERROR!)

witch is why it is not a fast nor easy insert code here:....

your better off grabbing a better - diofferent template: https://rawr.thatstevensguy.com/

@ leo :) i did it :)

Sorry for being a little off the forum (I'm barely having free time lately). About what you want, I think the most easy solution is to "clone" (copy and paste) the code of the "Select" or "Sort" buttons (from the Live 3 template), and add the buttons you want, copying only the functions found on the default template. That's a beautiful template!

Here's the unicode piece:
set charset to UTF-8 and also the font declaration in the body [style]:
Code: [Select]
font-family:"Arial Unicode MS","Lucida Sans Unicode","DejaVu Sans",sans-serif;This activates the unicode fonts for windows, mac, linux and phones too.

Files for a reliable server, stored on a less reliable Google server.  Although HFS is small-scale, it surely did win this round.
