Title: all contacts offline => but they are really online
Post by: SnAKeR on August 13, 2004, 04:03:27 PM
Hi,
I've a serious problem with &rq. I'm using it about one year without any problems. But now, everybody in my contact list is offline, but in reality they are online. Just when someone sends a message to me his status changes from offline to online. I'v reinstalled &rq several times, but only when I use another ICQ account the problem doesn't exist any more. It's only with my normal ICQ account. But I won't change my ICQ number.
Does anybody knows how to solve this problem ??

Sorry for my bad english :)

Same shit here. People say that now their server won't return online status for somebody who is not in your contact list on their server. Workarounds already exist for other 3rd-party clients, like Trellian or Miranda, but not for &RQ.
Does anyone know clients that can import history and contacts from &RQ database and are not affected by that problem?

I have 2 UINs and &RQ databases on my computer
The first UIN is processed correctly, showing all online users, while the second one suffers the same shit :(

If so many people have this problem too, is there really no solution ???
In my case, the problem comes from one moment to another moment, without doing anything. So where could be the problem ?? Reinstalling doesn't matter, with other ICQ accounts the problem doesn't exist. So it's only with the one ICQ account ?!?!

sad to say, but the lack of server side contact list support now finally makes &rq completely unusable. switching to miranda. it takes some time to configure all the plugins, but now it looks and acts like &rq does.

ICQ doesnt send contact status if it isnt in *their* (server) contact-list.

The solution: Install ICQ (yuck) and add everyone to list. Wait till they authorise you if needed.

It's not works, i've log in in ICQ2GO - there i have old friends added before i start using &RQ.
They are in my server-side contacts, but still not visible in my &RQ online list.
REMARK: When i turns @Show client version option ON - i see some (3-4) people online, that not all in sside cl, when turns it OFF - there no one (till some post a message) - got idea ?

Needs to rebuild client - it must show version - 2003 - to server.

Drencrom, I not developer, but I think that only new verson of my favorite ICQ client (andRQ I mean ;) ) may fix this problem. Chaet AOL server I can't, yesterday I try to make script, that seem andRQ like 2003bpro - result equality ZERO ;((

Listen here enemy dudes, Russia find an solution:
1. Connect to ICQ using standard ICQ client (checked on ICQ 2003).
2. Add there 3 new contacts (use WhitePages to find nicy girls without authorization needs :) )
3. Close this shit and go back to favourite client!

You are happy now!

Title: Suck Miraba
Post by: Dev on August 17, 2004, 07:19:44 AM
Was not a bug, they tryes to fuck all side-client users, but we start to expirement with server - so Miraba made rollback.
I've registred 3 new numbers, and i think a lot of people in tries do the same, so they was DOSed :)

Although this problem is gone, it ist just a matter of time before the next one will appear. Communication with ICQ2003b and ICQLiteV4 already causes other problems. It doesn't make any sense to use a client which is no longer under development.

Exactly!
Right now &RQ is experiencing it’s pre-mortem convulsions.

&RQ.NET is not so near: i've been programming a mail server in C++ for the last month, for a university exam.
in the last 2 months i was not able to spend any time on my personal projects.
it IS a good idea for those who don't want to wait, to use another software.
and time will tell if &RQ.NET will be worth.

if &RQ sources were well-written, someone else would have been working on them while i was unavailable.
this is another point for a full rewriting, with open-source in mind.
