Yep, it`s mostly for Russian messages.

But also my friends (who live abroad and haven`t russian version of Windows installed on their PC) cannot read my messages on Russian...

On Russian part of the forum I found out that the trouble is that &RQ don`t support unicode translation. You see, when the ICQ can`t or don`t want :) to recognize the version of other icq client it sometimes sends the messages in Russian using unicode. But it seems that &RQ can`t represent that type of messages correctly.

yes it's problem with unicode in &RQ.
for example - with icq pro 2003b.
the messages are unreadable on the &RQ side and also on the ICQ side.

Is it so difficult to do unicode support in &RQ ?!

HI, Rejetto.

Thanks for &RQ. But you must do better support because your messager is very popular. By the way, I use .16 and .17 builds and I can't save my details about GMT, E-Mail, Language etc. &RQ says that info is saved but info is clear again.
And please, integrate birhtday reminder in &RQ. It's very useful feature in ICQ.

Thank you.

Title: Some new things I would like :D
Post by: Chen on January 07, 2004, 02:12:19 PM
* Fix the 'Open Browser'...It doesn't work.
* More Var's to the away-msgs. (first name, last name, uin, country, bday, etc...)
* Invisible auto-checker.
* An option for an reply-msg when I am not here (the subject I spoke of before).
* Out of groups will be a group? :o (more easy to deal with all in one time)
* Responding to events with things you want (ex: i get a msg, i'll send a msg back with "hey u!". some1 reads my away, i'll read his or w/e)
* In the hotkeys add more events (like pop up main menu)
* Fix the first letter that double itself.
* More ways to arrange your cl...(by status and then by name / vice cerse and so...)

Those are just small things but I would like to have them in the next version I use, The big things (most of them except file transfer and server-side cl) are already supported and that's good!

Keep up the good work rejetto.
Thanks in advance.

Chen... Buddy... there is a guy, who is our moderator. This guy was so kind, to start a new thread, containing most of yours, mine and other people's wishes, questions... Please, HAVE A LOOK, READ, TRY TO UNDERSTAND WHAT'S GOIN' ON HERE AND THEN WRITE JUST THESE THINGS, YOU WANNA SEE IN THE NEXT RELEASE... I think I was clear enough.

Take my advice.... Rejetto is sick about Invisible auto-shecker... do not try to mess with this subject....

Have a nice day! ;)

sorry for off-top, but this forum is useless, if all of us wrote all the time the same things....

Alk - do not hesitate to bann.... even me... ;)
Title: 0.9.4.17
Post by: alkimiya on January 07, 2004, 08:00:33 PM
Thanks Plamen, but I cannot ban people unless they're breaking some rules.
As much as I would like for all people to read the requests thread and notify me if something isn't correct and so on, but there will always be people who fail to do so for one reason or another. Unless rejetto makes it a rule not to request things already discussed I will not enforce this by using violence.

And.. he did have some new requests as well, I think.. I will add them.. some day.. too tired as of now ;)

MOST of my requests (50%+) wasn't mentioned before, I saw that some guys where talking about things off the topic so i saw it's an active topic so I can write here as well.
"...Invisible auto-shecker..." what is auto-shecker? :o
And about the ban thing, It's not surprising that you don't have the permissibility to ban people, you will use it to ban anyone you don't like or any new user that don't follow the rules BY YOU.

Title: 0.9.4.17
Post by: rejetto on January 11, 2004, 01:32:00 PM
there may be a bug in the history.
it is very rare because i never met it.
the best solution ATM is to backup your user from time to time (i do it weekly).
it is very easy, because you just have to ZIP/RAR your UIN folder.
if a history gets corrupted, then you just have to replace it with the one in your backup.
the history file has the UIN of your contact as name.
in facts, you have 1 file for each history/contact.
Title: 0.9.4.17
Post by: Electron on January 12, 2004, 11:11:19 AM
And if I had not backed my UIN daily... What should I do now?
Delete all my history????
May be there's the sollution wihtout removing all the history?
And the second...
Why are you so sure that the bug is in history...???
I see this error when I'm exiting &RQ, not when reading histrory...
But not every time... That is too strange... Only after chatting for some time... Or may be with someone special... I don't know...But the bug is very unpleasent :(

Title: 0.9.4.17
Post by: alkimiya on January 12, 2004, 05:33:10 PM
If the access violation occurs when scrolling history, try to find out what message/event preceeds the av. Then open the history file in a hexeditor and try to find that position. Events are stored in an orderly manner so use common sense/percentage averaging etc to try to find it..
before making any changes, back up the file.. then look for anything suspicious in the vicinity of the error.. the time I got corruptions the event entry was truncated and filled with zeroes...
Title: 0.9.4.17
Post by: rejetto on January 13, 2004, 03:28:04 AM
electron, you get 1 history file for each contact.
so, about the history bug, to know what file is, just see what contact makes you crash watching history.

We have about 90 instances of &RQ in our organization.
As you understand there are many different hardware and OS configurations. During last year there was one one day when all of instances doesn't work - it was discussed at this forum (48% connecting). All other time all instances work fine.

At our practice - Violation is a common problem of video adapter drivers (rarely - chipset drivers) or when system have incorrect DLL's in system directory of OS.
In your case - OS is clear, so I advise to check a new or other version of drivers.

I also have this problem and only with the latest test build of .17 .
It appeared no matter what contact i'd been talking to.
After downgrading to .16 it is completely gone.
So I strongly believe it is neither related to corrupted history nor to incorrect OS drivers.

here is my humble opinion:

The only time, when I get AV was WHEN I READING MESSAGE HISTORY, and I've pressed almost simultaneously history button in TWO open instances of &RQ... No other strange occurrences of this sad error take place in my practice...;(

At this time, I have no idea what exactly from OS environment may be responsible for this error, but there is another strange &RQ behavior...
I always use Opera as my browser. So, when I browse some pages, and when in these pages have some GIF animation, main &RQ window, starts flash rapidly... when I close browser, there is no problem... I think this is related to &RQ transparency features, but the last word (as always...) have rejetto...

have a nice day folks!

(and don't think, U have done smthng wrong in your beloved &RQ, that reflects in loosing your personal info today... from now on, WE DO NOT HAVE ANY INFO... ICQ servers are crashed last night...) ;)))))

when in these pages have some GIF animation, main &RQ window, starts flash rapidly... when I close browser, there is no problem... I think this is related to &RQ transparency features,

everytime the window in background changes, the translucent chat window on top has to be redrawn (the request is issued by Windows).
transparency requires a lot of calculation speed, and it can't be done too fast.
