I've been having some problems with the last 2 versions of hfs - I think they're version 2.2a, builds 124 & 125. Build 125 sometimes errors and terminates, build 124 just gave errors. I have the hfs-service running and set to auto-restart every 90 seconds so that may possibly be the problem or part of it. When it crashes, I get the following alert - which is new (to me at least) with build 125:

==================================================
Access violation at address 00404572 in module 'hfs.exe'. Read of address 00000001

i never tried HFS2Service, but this "90secs autorestart" doesn't seem wise to me.

if you find no luck with it, feel free to try other "servicing" methods, like srvany.

Okay, I'll try 'srvany' or maybe just run it as an app again instead of a service and see if the error goes away. Just curious why you think the 90 second restart is unwise? It only kicks in when it finds no hfs.exe running so it shouldn't interfere with the normal operation - I don't think...

Thanx for the quick reply and I'll try to let you know what I find out,
Dennis

P.S. I'm was wondering where the 'Access violation' error message that reports all the hfs related apps and versions came from, was it hfs.exe or windows??? [excuse me in advance if that's a dumb question  ??? ]

i guess it is some incompatibility between HFS and the tool
